Ritam grada / Rhythm of the city

ketball players, volleyball players, water polo players, all the people who represented Serbia so fantas- tically. I’ve been here on several oc- casions, but this is priceless and ir- replaceable, this will never happen again. To stand next to great cham- pions, but also great people, with whom I have friendly relations. I have felt their unity and that mo- ment of humanity. Boriša is a he- ro of the nation and deserves you all to chant for him. Boriša! Boriša! No other nation in the world has this spirit that we have. Long live Serbia,” said an emotional Novak. The basketball stars also spoke, there was singing and celebrating… you really need to be in Belgrade when the balcony of the Old Pal- ace is “working”. But this beautiful edifice is worth seeing even when its balcony isn’t hosting champions. The palace of Serbia’s Obrenović dy- nasty, which is today home to the Belgrade City Assembly, is located on the corner of Kralja Milana and Dragoslava Jovanovića streets. It was built between 1882 and 1884, intended to outdo all previous res- idences of Serbian rulers. Linked to the Old Palace are important events from the period of the Obrenović dynasty’s polit- ical power: the building was con- structed when Serbia was declared a kingdom, and it was there, on 22 nd February 1889, that King Milan ab- dicated in favour of his son Alexan- der. The Old Palace was the residence of the Karađorđević dynasty from 1903 to 1914. It provided the venue for sessions of the temporary Na- tional Assembly from 1919 to 1920, but also continuously hosted court balls and receptions for high-rank- ing guests until 1941. These representative spaces of the Old Palace today host receptions for delegations and distinguished guests from the country and around the world, award ceremonies for the City Assembly awards, diplomatic receptions, banquets, balls, concerts and other cultural events. There are, of course, the cabinet offices of of- ficials, but also that balcony that’s dreamt of by all Serbian athletes...

gratulated the basketball silver medallists on their fantastic result, unbeatable play and courage. For Air Serbia, it was a great honour and pleasure to contribute to the basketball players finding themselves in their own country as soon as possi- ble, where they were awaited by all those who followed their exploits from match to match. The medals were celebrated with cake and a champagne toast during the flight, while the basketball players also received a gift from Air Serbia in the form of a large model of the “Mihajlo Pupin” Airbus A330 aircraft that they were actually fly- ing home on...

Air Serbia’s “Mihajlo Pupin” Airbus A330 aircraft flew to Manila to collect Serbia’s national basketball team, runners up in the recently concluded Basketball World Cup. The special flight from Belgrade to Manila lasted approximately 12 hours and represented the first ever direct flight in the history of Air Serbia between the capitals of Serbia and the Philippines, which are separated by a distance of al- most 10,000 kilometres.
