The Belgrade public will have the opportunity to watch ten of the latest film productions from France, some of which were included in this year’s Cannes Film Festival se- lection. For this fifth anniversary year, the festival will also be held in cine- mas in Niš and Novi Sad, as well as at an outdoor location in Zrenjanin. Festivals are cultural diplo- macy platforms in a way, representing a window to a country’s culture. As a cul- tural attaché, how do you interpret and build upon the existing bonds between the cultures of Serbia and France? - The bonds between Serbia and France in the area of film are very strong. France is today developing cooperation with Serbia in numerous fields of the arts, such as film, litera- ture, comics and video games, but al- so theatre and dance. An agreement between the two countries on film co-productions was signed in 2019 and is crucial to further strength- ening ties between our two coun- tries in the area of film. Thanks to this agreement, numerous Serbian films have French co-producers and opportunities to be promoted both here and in France.
Volite li da letite? Kako se osećate u avionima Er Srbije? – Obožavam da letim, uvek imam isti osećaj uzbuđenja pri pole- tanju kao kada sam bila dete! Često letim avionima srpske kompanije, naročito kada putujem u Francusku da se vidim sa svojom porodicom. Ponekad vodim i svoju mačku, ko- ja pri svakom letu pokazuje zabri- nutost, ali i radoznalost! U Beogradu ste već neko vreme. Imate li svoja omi- ljena mesta? – Volim živopisne beogradske kvartove, baš kao i kulturni život u glavnom srpskom gradu. Bajlo- nijeva pijaca i Zeleni venac su ve- oma autentična mesta. Svima koji dolaze u Beograd preporučila bih KC „Grad“ zbog odličnog ambijen- ta i lepe bašte, kao i Silose Beograd, gde su zalasci sunca uz Dunav naj- lepši i gde je muzika odlična. A koja tri manje poznata mesta u Parizu volite? – Nedavno sam posetila prelepi Muzej romantičnog života, gde sam pogledala izložbu francuske umet- nice srpskog porekla Fransoaz Pe- trović. „La Gaîté Lyrique“, prostor posvećen digitalnoj umetnosti, ne- zaobilazno je mesto svaki put kada odem u Pariz. Osim njih, preporu- čujem „Maïf Social Club“, koji nudi veoma inovativne programe u srcu prestižnog pariskog kvarta Mare.
how does it differ from the famous New Wave? - Current French film production has returned to its pre-crisis level. More room for growth still exists, giv- en that audiences haven’t fully re- turned to cinemas. Old and familiar names are still on the scene, such as Arnaud Desplechin, Jacques Audiard, Claire Denis, François Ozon or Cath- erine Corsini. However, there are ev- er more very successful young film- makers, and those are mostly female directors, like Justine Triet, Maïwenn, Alice Diop, Louis Garrel and Sébast- ien Lifshitz. Do you like flying? How do you feel aboard Air Serbia’s planes? - I adore flying. I always feel the same sense of excitement dur- ing take-off that I felt as a child! I often fly on planes of the Serbian airline, particularly when travelling to France to see my family. I some- times also take my cat with me, who every time shows uneasiness, but also curiosity! You’ve been resident in Bel- grade for quite a while. Do you have your favourite places? - I love Belgrade’s vibrant neigh- bourhoods, but also the cultural life of the Serbian capital. Bajloni market and Zeleni Venac are very authentic places. I would recommend Cultur- al Centre Grad to everyone coming to Belgrade, because of its excellent ambience and beautiful garden, as well as Silosi Beograd, where sun- sets over the Danube are at their most beautiful, and where the mu- sic is excellent. And which three places in Paris that are not as well- known do you love? - I recently visited the beautiful Museum of Romantic Life, where I saw an exhibition of the works of Françoise Petrović, a French artist with Serbian roots. La Gaîté Lyrique, a venue dedicated to digital art, is a “must” every time I go to Paris. Apart from them, I would recommend the Maïf Social Club, which offers very innovative programmes at the heart of Paris’s prestigious Marais district.
