The remote mine site, which has a small footprint of approximately 240 acres, is accessed via air or water with the 45- mile commute along Lynn Canal. In 2019, the Kens- ington Mine reached the milestone of over one million ounces of gold produced and celebrated its tenth full year of production on July 3, 2020. In 2022 Coeur Alaska received approval for an amendment to its Plan of Operations (POA 1) to increase tailings and waste rock storage capacity to reflect positive exploration results, improved metal prices, and ongoing operational efficiencies.
