ElA Projects receive 2012 Envision Awards ough of Marietta, was recognized

LITITZ/STATECOLLEGE, PA — The Lancaster County Plan- ning Commission recently recog- nized three projects designed by ELAGroup, Inc. (ELA) as part of its Envision Lancaster County Leadership Awards program, a program that recognizes projects exemplary of the principles of Smart Growth. ELA, an engi- neering and landscape architec- ture firm with principle offices in Lititz and State College, PA was involved in the following recognized projects. ELA provided land develop- ment planning, permit/entitle- ment, and construction docu- mentation services for Marietta SeniorApartments, developed by Community Basics. The project, developed on a 1.4-acre former brownfield site, provides 56 apartments for senior citizens, including a number of units set aside for the homeless. Designed by Architectural Concepts, the building was constructed by Caldwell Heckles & Egan with sitework provided by DH Funk. Project funding was provided, in part, via the PAHousing Finance Agency (PHFA). This project, located in the center of the Bor-

The project provides 202 mixed-income, senior-living apartments on a 12.9-acre property subdivided from lands of Highland Presby- terian Church inManheimTwp.. Adjacent to a Twp. park and greenway/trail system, archi- tectural design was provided by Noelker & Hull Associates. The project was built by Benchmark Construction. Funding was pro- vided, in part, by PHFA. This project was recognized with a Certificate of Achievement. ELA provided master plan- ning services for Whistle Stop Plaza. Developed by Ephrata Borough and Downtown Eph- rata, this project was recognized with an Achievement Award. Based on ELA’s master plan, the Borough’s Department of Engineering and Public Works prepared the construction docu- ments for the conversion of this former parking lot into a pocket park and gathering area in downtown Ephrata. n
