New fire service & education contracts With turnover reaching £76m in the latest financial year, Irwin M&E has set its sights on reaching £100m in the next three to five years. The firm has secured a new four-year contract delivering building, M&E maintenance and minor works across the northern region for the Northern Ireland Fire and Rescue Service. “As a new client for us, we’re looking forward to building a strong partnership and supporting a vital service in the community,” says Richard Megarity, Operations Director. We’re also up and running on a four- year contract with the Education Authority Northern Ireland for M&E maintenance and minor works in the Newry, Mourne and Down area. This marks our third award under the latest procurement, alongside East Antrim, Antrim and Newtownabbey and Belfast, continuing a relationship with the Education Authority that has been going strong for over 10 years.”

The successful M&E contractor prides itself on being an ethical business with a positive impact on its community, as both a significant employer supporting the regional economy and through corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiatives. We operate a successful apprenticeship scheme, currently totalling around 50 apprentices, as well as partnering with Ulster University to upskill placement students.” In terms of CSR, financial support is provided through a Beyond the Tools bursary for activities promoting health, wellbeing and community spirit including sponsorship of local sports teams and events. The team is also invited to select a Charity of the Year by popular vote. As Irwin M&E celebrates its 30th anniversary, the company is investing in its people, technology and sustainability. “Looking forward, we will continue to invest in new technologies and sustainable solutions to boost efficiency and future-proof our company,” says Richard. “As part of our recent investment in the Portadown HQ, we are embracing digital technology aimed at improving delivery, collaboration and the overall client experience.”
