Fo oncu: s LOW-CARBON HEATING
EVERYTHING INSTALLERS NEED TO KNOW ABOUT THIS HIGH-PERFORMANCE AIR-TO-WATER, AIR-SOURCE HEAT PUMP RANGE, WHICH DELIVERS EXCEPTIONAL PERFORMANCE WITH QUIET OPERATION… Grant’s Aerona R290 Heat Pump
As demand for low-carbon heating continues to grow, installers are increasingly turning to air-to-water heat pumps for new-build and deep- retrofit projects. For many heating engineers, selecting systems that deliver strong performance, reliable operation and straightforward installation is essential. Grant has developed the Aerona R290 air-source heat pump with these priorities firmly in mind. Designed for performance The Aerona R290 represents a significant development within Grant’s renewable heating portfolio. Designed specifically for the UK and Irish climate, this high-performance air-to-water, air-source heat pump range delivers exceptional performance with quiet operation, recognised by Quiet Mark, making it suitable for residential areas and high-density housing developments. Features such as protective coatings, optimised drainage and advanced system components help maintain reliable performance and extend product longevity in challenging climates. Available in five single-phase models, the Aerona R290 range provides outputs of 4kW, 6.5kW, 9kW, 12kW and 16kW, allowing installers to match system capacity to a wide range of property types and heating requirements. Models achieve A+++ ErP ratings, with SCOPs of up to 4.88. While the Aerona R290 heat pump is capable of delivering flow temperatures of up to 75°C, correct system design ensures lower, more- efficient flow temperatures are utilised. These high-efficiency ratings support compliance with relevant building regulations and also NZEB performance requirements.

System design As with any heat pump system, achieving optimum performance depends on correct system design and installation. Accurate heat-loss calculations, appropriate heat emitter sizing and proper system configuration are essential to ensure the heat pump operates efficiently throughout the heating season. Recognising that every home is unique, Grant provides technical support to assist installers with correct heat pump sizing and specification for both new-build and deep-retrofit applications. Optimising performance with smart controls A key element of the system is the Grant Aerona Smart Controller, which enables installers to optimise heat pump operation through weather compensation and open-loop system management. The controller adjusts the heat pump’s output automatically in response to changing outdoor temperatures, helping maintain comfort within the home while ensuring the system operates at maximum efficiency.
