Des élèves imaginent la maison du futur
VANKLEEK HILL | Magician Larry La- rouche will reveal the history of modern magic March 23 at 7:30 p.m. at Arbor Gal- lery, 35 Home Ave., Vankleek Hill. For further information, call 613-678- 5086 or visit www.arborgallery.org or www.vankleekhill.ca/events. Larouche will also touch on the sub- ject of critical thinking and how Houdini was one of the first skeptics who used his magical skills to debunk claims of the su- pernatural. Larouche will combine several media to demonstrate various optical illusions employed by the pioneers of the magi- cal art and that continue to be utilized by modern day magicians such as Criss Angel and David Copperfield. This is a great op- portunity to learn about the second oldest profession in the world. +1ŏ3%(( !(%!2!ŏ%*ŏ)#% “Animals cannot speak for themselves,” points out Paquette-Timbers, explaining why she and other singers and musicians will lend their voices to a fund-raising concert she is organizing to raise money for the area chapter of the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals. The Country Music Fund-raiser Show will be heldMay 25 at 6 p.m. at l’École sec- HAWKESBURY | Linda Paquette-Timbers is a good friend of man’s best friend. The Vankleek Hill resident has saved several dogs over the years. In fact, she estimates that between 1991 and 2001, she found homes for 60 dogs that had been impounded.
Paquette-Timbers will perform with the Wild Woody Woodpeckers, a band com- prised of Mario Poirier, Richard Charette and Georges Beaulne. Rounding out the line-up are the Country Gentlemen and Billy Gabriel. Tickets can be purchased at M&M Pet Grooming and Sunworks in Hawkesbury, MacCormick Veterinary Services, Vankleek Hill, and Glengarry Printing, Alexandria. With 550 tickets for sale, Paquette-Tim- bers hopes that she can collect $7,000 to $8,000 for the SPCA. She believes strongly in the importance of supporting the investigation and en- forcement arm of the Humane Society. “Everyone should do their part to prevent animals from being abused, neglected and injured,” says Paquette-Timbers.
