to office - Microsoft Work Trend Index research showed that 82 per cent of BDMs cited getting back to the office in person as a concern - but the situation is more complicated than that. Attitudes towards work, wellbeing and work-life balance shifted during the COVID years and such a monolithic approach is no longer effective. It can be downright counterproductive. In late 2023, the Flex Report uncovered an interesting trend in the US. Companies embracing flexible work arrangements are flourishing. From 2020 to 2022, companies with full flexibility reportedly saw a 16 per cent revenue growth above their peers,
adjusted for industry differences. The trend went beyond the tech world. Non-tech companies with flexible policies experienced a 13 per cent growth advantage, while organisations following hybrid models outpaced fully in-office companies by a 3 per cent growth margin. A balanced approach to flexible work can demonstrably drive business growth. According to the Microsoft Index , 73 per cent of employees and 78 per cent of business decision-makers stated that they need a reason to be in the office that goes beyond company expectations.
