Sacramento Country Day School, an independent pre- kindergarten through 12th grade institution, has begun construction on a major campus upgrade that includes a new Performing Arts Center and key site improvements. As part of the project, demolition of an existing 3,900-square- foot multipurpose room and several small classrooms will make way for a new two-story, 17,000-square-foot performing arts facility featuring a balcony, upgraded instructional spaces, and dedicated music areas. The first floor will include a band room, administrative offices and faculty room, a kitchen, storage and maintenance rooms, and two class rooms. The second floor will house a music room, six classrooms, and flex space designed to support a variety of academic and creative uses.
Designed through a collaborative design-assist process, the new center will provide students with modern, purpose-built spaces to explore music, drama, and the performing arts—further strengthening Country Day’s commitment to cultivating creativity, confidence, and academic excellence. This project also includes the demolition of outdated maintenance and classroom buildings, along with comprehensive site upgrades to better serve students, faculty, and the wider school community. Construction is being carefully coordinated while the campus remains active, with strict safety protocols in place to protect students, faculty, and visitors at all times. Clearly defined construction zones, controlled access points, and ongoing communication with school staff ensure a safe and seamless environment throughout the duration of the project. In addition, a dedicated viewing window will provide students with a unique opportunity to observe construction activities firsthand, turning the project into an engaging, real-time learning experience.
