AF&PA Releases Q3 2023 Boxboard Quarterly Report

The American Forest & Paper Association (AF&PA) re- leased its Q3 2023 Boxboard report. Total Boxboard pro- duction in Q3 decreased 17 percent compared to Q3 2022. The boxboard operating rate was 82.3 percent, down 12.0 points from Q3 2022. Solid Bleached Boxboard operating rate was 80.3 per- cent, down 9.7 points year-to-date. Recycled Boxboard-Un- coated (not incl. Gypsum) production was down 12 percent when compared to the same 9 months of 2022. Unbleached Kraft & Gypsum production in Q3 de- creased 10 percent when compared to the same nine months of 2022. The operating rate was 87.2 percent.
