Materials Materials needed for this book are listed in groups. Each project is given a material group number so that you will know what you need to complete the project by referring to this page. Having these items on hand will make the preparation for each art class simple.
Group #1 Additional items: cotton cloth and masking tape in lesson 33, brown wrapping paper in lesson 22, white roll of paper in lesson 25. Group #1 is used in lessons 3, 6, 8, 9, 10, 14, 17, 19, 20, 21, 22, 25, 26, and 29. Group # 2 Additional items: Paper towels, empty cans for water containers, and a pencil. Group #2 is used in lessons 1, 4, 5, 6, 7, 11, 12, 13, 18, 24, and 35. Group #3 Additional items: glue stick, pencil, string, and ruler. Group #3 is used in lessons 15, 16, 28, 32, 34, and 36. Group # 4 Additional items: rolling pin, 4 inch paper tube, and foil. Group #4 is used in lessons 23, 27 28, 30, and 31. Option: substitute lesson 23 with a flour dough recipe.
GROUP #1 DRAWING 1- Ebony pencil 1 - Vinyl eraser 1 - Small set of soft pastels (Powdery like chalk, not professional grade) 1 - Small set of oil pastels ( CrayPas, Junior Artist brand recommended) 1 - Sketch or drawing paper pad GROUP #2 PAINTING 1 – Set of 10-15 Watercolor Crayons ( Caran d’ache, Neocolor II Watersoluble brand recommended) 1 - #8 round watercolor brush that comes to a point. 1 - Watercolor paper pad GROUP #3 PAPER ART 1 -heavy weight construction paper, assorted colors including black 1 -package tissue paper, assorted colors 1 -scissors (Fiskars for children are recommended.)
GROUP #4 CLAY 1 -4 or 5 lb. gray self hardening clay
(Red self-hardening clay can be substituted and may be preferred for the Greek pot project in lesson 28. White self-hardening clay or a flour dough recipe can be used in lesson 23.)
