Project - You Paint Ribbons of Color!
Van Gogh used paint much more thickly than most painters before him. His brushstrokes form ribbons of bright color as they flow from a flat brush. Make a landscape painting showing ribbons of color. Draw a scene onto the paper with pencil. Place water into each color to soften them. 1. Mix colors with white tube paint to make lighter colors. 2. To make a ribbon of color, dip the flat brush into a color and place it on the paper, then pull the brush. 3. Fill up all the white spaces of the picture. MATERIALS: gouache paint set, white gouache in a tube, watercolor paper, ¼ inch flat brush only, water container, paper towel, palette, and pencil. You can substitute white gouache paint in a tube with white tempera or gesso.
