ON THE WAY TO PREMIUM STATUS WONDERFUL WALKING IN THE LEINE UPLANDS The Leine Uplands region wants to become even more attractive to hikers and is seeking certification as a “Qual - itätsregion wanderbares Deutschland” (premium status for wonderful walking in Germany) from the German Ramblers Association. But what does this mean? A hiking region with premium status is dedicated to the needs of hikers and of - fers the highest level of hiking enjoyment. There are 43 cri - teria that must be met, ranging from a consistently marked
network of hiking routes to hosts who specialise in catering specifically to hikers and their wishes. Look forward to a new hiking paradise!!

A living monument, the Fagus Factory in Alfeld was designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2011 as the first industrial building of the modern era. The Fagus Facto - ry was the first work of Bauhaus founder Walter Gropius. It represents an architectural concept that for the first time took into account the need for light, air and clarity, using glass and steel in the context of New Objectivity.
