Growth • OUR MISSION IS TO TAKE ALL THE ASSUMPTIONS OUT OF YOUR BULL SELECTION. ALL BULLS HAVE BEEN PARENT VERIFIED AND GENETICALLY ENHANCED. OUR DATA IS INTENSIVELY COLLECTED AT CRITICAL GROWTH POINTS THROUGHOUT THE BULL LIFE CYCLE TO CAPTURE VITAL GROWTH AND CARCASS DATA. WE GO BEYOND JUST A GUARANTEE, AS WE PAY HALF OF THE 6 MONTH MORTALITY INSURANCE POLICY. 46 OF THE BULLS ARE SIRED BY OUR RESIDENT HERD SIRES, THEY REPRESENT THE MOST CUTTING EDGE AND HIGHLY SOUGHT AFTER GENETICS IN THE INDUSTRY. THERE ARE 25 BULLS THAT ARE HOMO POLLED IN THE SALE. Maternal Consistent. Rugged. Structurally Correct.

Carcass When it comes to pounds of product, carcass weight (CW), the average bull in this sale will generate 28 pounds of additional red meat product. There are 35 bulls in this sale that exceed the breed median with 14 of those bulls in the top 10% of the breed. The average bull in this sale ribeye area (REA) EPD equates to a value 120% of the average bull in the breed. Every bull is above the average, with 23 bulls in the top 20% of the breed. With additional pressure and increased premium for higher quality grade carcasses, marbling has become significantly more important. 24 bulls exceed their average breed peer, with 16 bulls in top 25% of the breed. The top bull is nearly 3 times the breed average. 36 bulls in the offering have secured the $CHB logo this equates to the progeny of these bulls generating a $9/cwt advantage. 25 of the bulls are in breed leading company ranking in the top quarter of the breed.

Sustained fertility, combined with selection for moderate framed, easy fleshing, efficient, highly productive females is exemplified as you study the number of bulls that are produced by generations of females that have obtained the Dam of Distinction (DOD). As we strive to increase Maternal Milk (MM), it is evident as you study the 6 pound advantage these Dvorak bulls have. It is also equally important that we do that with intensive selection of udder and teat quality. 44 bulls top the breed average for milk flow, with 18 bulls in top 10% and 5 in the top 1%. Milk and growth (MG) is a trend that we strive to capture these traits. This is evident as the average Dvorak bulls possess a 10 pound advantage for these combined traits that encompass the basis of what we all try to do. All but 7 bulls are better than the breed average for MG. We have 10 bulls in the top 5%, and 26 bulls in the top 20% of the breed. 38 bulls have earned the Maternal Advantage logo, with the average bull possessing a $24 advantage. 9 bulls rank in the top 10%, with the top bull having a $180 premium.

Many heifer and cow bull options exist in this offering, that place an emphasis on calve vigor, with early and explosive growth. As we look at calving ease (CE), there are multiple double digit options with 7 bulls being in elite company in top 10% of the breed and 24 bulls above breed average. 28 bulls are below the breed mean for birth weight (BW) with 15 bulls in the top 20% of the breed. 38 of the bulls in the sale exceed the breed average for weaning weight (WW) EPD with 19 bulls in the top 10% of the breed. 12 the bulls in the sale are in the top 10% of the breed from yearling weight (YW) EPD, which equates to a 16 pound advantage at yearling time. 39 of the bulls in the sale exceed the average YW EPD of the breed.

Welcome Fellow Cattlemen, Welcome to the 2025 Dvorak Herefords Annual Bull Sale

On behalf of Dvorak Herefords and the entire Dvorak family, we are honored to welcome you to this year’s sale. Your presence here humbles us, and we deeply appreciate your time spent evaluating our offering. It’s because of the trust and long-standing relationships we’ve built with loyal customers like you that this multi-generational enterprise continues to thrive. We hope to maintain that relationship with the same passion and commitment moving forward. For those joining us for the first time, welcome! We are excited to meet your expectations and look forward to forging a lasting partnership. Our longstanding customers can attest that we are always just a phone call away for any questions or concerns. Thank you for considering us and for taking the time to learn about what we have to offer. We’re feeling increasingly optimistic about the recent positive trends in the feeder cattle market, driven by global demand for high-quality beef. U.S. producers are well-positioned to meet this demand with the safest and highest-quality beef in the world. Historic premiums for Choice and Prime carcasses are holding strong, making this an ideal time to invest in genetics that can help capture these rewards for years to come. This year’s group of bulls exemplifies the mission and goals of Dvorak Herefords. Through generations of careful selection, we’ve prioritized traits such as moderate birth weights, rapid growth, fertility, structural soundness, and end-product merit. These bulls are developed with longevity in mind, and their mothers are managed similarly to your cows to ensure they’re rugged and durable. The uniformity and quality of this group make them valuable contributors to the beef production industry. Our catalog offers a wealth of data to support your decision-making. Every bull has been evaluated through individual performance metrics, carcass ultrasound, and 50K genomic testing. Parentage has been verified, and homozygous polled bulls identified. While a few bulls are carriers of genetic abnormalities, this is clearly noted in their descriptions. We’ve also utilized advanced breeding techniques, including embryo transfer and artificial insemination, to maximize genetic potential and ensure consistency across our offerings. We believe the females in our donor program are some of the best in the industry, and their proven track records validate our confidence. By pairing these top females with the best bulls available, we aim to produce sires that will elevate your calf crops. We encourage you to visit and inspect the bulls at any time. For sight-unseen purchases or any purchase, we guarantee your satisfaction and offer one of the best guarantees in the business, including covering half the cost of a six-month mortality policy. Additionally, our bred heifers are from the heart of our replacement pen and represent the cutting edge of our genetics. These heifers, selected with the same rigor as our bulls, are built to make an immediate impact on any operation. Summered in the river hills and developed for longevity, they are an excellent addition to any herd. Thank you for your continued trust in Dvorak Herefords. We look forward to serving you and supporting your operation’s success.

See you at the ranch, Friday, February 7th. Please feel free to contact us anytime to make arrangements for a visit or if you have any questions. Boyd & Jeff Dvorak Families

The Power of Genomically Enhanced EPDs

The American Hereford Association (AHA) has embraced the use of genomics into their genetic evaluation by launching a first of its kind single step analysis that utilizes the marker effects of specific traits. Likewise, AHA is directly estimating accuracy values rather than approximating. The direct estimation of accuracy results in a more conservative value but a more accurate value than previous methodologies. The AHA is producing the most reliable genetic evaluation that is supported by Whole Herd TPR™ and genomics, which will give prospective buyers added confidence in purchasing young and unproven animals.

Buying animals that have a genomic profile incorporated into their Expected Progeny Difference (EPD) offers many advantages that allow for quicker breed and herd improvement. To the right is a table showing the average increase in accuracy when buying a young animal with a Genomic Enhanced EPD (GE-EPD) versus an animal without a GE-EPD. Similarly, an effective progeny number increase is listed by trait that shows how many progeny equate to a genomic enhancement of a young animal (e.g. yearling). That’s right, buying a young animal that has been genotyped is like having 2-17 progeny, depending on the trait. The proof gained on young, non-parent animals, through a genomic enhancement is valuable and greatly mitigates the risk and allows for more directed selection.

Each animal tested is recognized with the AHA GE-EPD logo.

Actual Birth Weight (ACT. BW) The weight of a calf taken within 24 hours after birth. Heavy births weights tend to be correleated with calving problems along with other factors. Adjusted Weaning Weight (ADJ. WW) An unshrunk, off-the-cow calf weight adjusted to 205 days of age and to a mature dam age equivalence. Weaning Weight Ratio (WW RATIO) An indication of teh animal’s performance at weaning compared to their contemporary group. Adjusted Yearling Weight (ADJ. YW) An unshrunk weight adjusted to either 365, 452, or 550 days of age. Yearling Weight Ratio (YW RATIO) An indication of the animal’s perfomrance at one year of age compared to their contemporary group. Dam Production This is the dam’s average production over her lifetime, showing her average nursing ratios and yearling ratios for the number fo progeny she ahs produced thus far. Eye Pigment Expressed as a percentage of pigment surrounding the eye. Direct Calving Ease (CED) CE EPD is based on calving ease scores and birth weights and is measured on a percentage. CE EPD indicates the influence of the sire on calving ease in females calving at 2 years of age. Birth Weight (BW) BW EPD is an indicator trait for calving ease and is measured in pounds. Weaning Weight (WW) WW EPD is an estimate of pre-weaning growth that is measured in pounds. Yearling Weight (YW) YW EPD is an estimate of post-weaning growth that is measured in pounds. Scrotal Circumference (SC) Measured in centimeters and adjusted to 365 days of age, SC EPD is the best estimate of fertility. Maternal Milk (M) The MM EPD of a sire’s daughters is expressed in pounds of calf weaned. It predicts the difference in average weaning weights of sires’ daughters’ progeny due to milking ability. Maternal Milk & Growth (M&G) The M&G EPD reflects what the sire is expected to transmit to his daughters for a combination of growth genetics through weaning and genetics for milking ability. Mature Cow Weight (MCW) The MCW EPD was designed to help breeders select sires that will either increase or decrease mature size of cows in the herd. Rib Fat (FAT) The FAT EPD reflects differences in adjusted 365-day, 12th-rib fat thickness based on carcass measurements of harvested cattle. Ribeye Area (REA) REA EPDs reflect differences in an adjusted 365-day ribeye area measurement based on carcass measurements of harvested cattle. Marbling (MARB) MARB EPDs reflect differences in an adjusted 365-day marbling score (intramuscular fat, [IMF]) based on carcass measurements of harvested cattle. Baldy Maternal Index (BMI$) The BMI$ is a maternally focused index that is based on a production system that uses Hereford x Angus cross cows. Progeny of these cows are directed towards Certified Hereford Beef. This index has significant weight on Sustained Cow Fertility, which predicts fertility and longevity of females. Certified Hereford Beef Index (CHB$) CHB$ is a terminal sire index that is built on a production system where Hereford bulls are mated to mature commercial Angus cows where all progeny will be targeted for Certified Hereford Beef after the finishing phase. This index has significant weight on Carcass Weight and Marbling to ensure profit on the rail. Percents are the animal’s percentile ranking among the breed for that trait.

MATERNAL ADVANTAGE The Maternal Advantage program generates females with added longevity, more docility, increased fertility and more profit per year. Can be utilized by producers using Hereford bulls on British-based cows or Brahman-based cows in their breeding program. Producers utilizing the program will have access to a sire EPD summary, added market exposure, replacement selection tools, genetic improvement tools and access to AHA resources, marketing and staff. QUALIFICATIONS Producers must verify that eligible females are sired by registered Hereford bulls with transferred ownership. Participating bull batteries must rank in the top 50% of the breed for Baldy Maternal Index (BMI$) if used on British-based cows or the top 50% of the breed for Brahman Influence Index (BII$) if used on Brahman- based cows.

POLLED/HORNED INHERITANCE One of the most often conversations we have with bull customers is the polled/horned inheritance. We hope that this table will help explain it better. It is safe to assume that long term straight bred angus cows are homozygous polled. With that assumption, it leads to more opportunities to use heterozygous polled and even horned bulls. USING A HORNED BULL Mated to horned cows: 100% of calves are horned Mated to heterozygous polled cows: 50% of calves are horned, 50% of calves are polled Mated to Homozygous polled cows: 100% of calves are polled USING A HETEROZYGOUS POLLED BULL Mated to horned cows: 50% of calves are horned, 50% of calves are polled Mated to heterozygous polled cows: 25% of calves are horned, 75% of calves are polled

Mated to homozygous polled cows: 100% of calves are polled USING A HOMOZYGOUS POLLED BULL 100% of calves are polled, regardless of cow horn genotype.
