How I Stay Motivated to Always Do My Best WILL YOU CELEBRATE ALL OR NOTHING DAY?

You probably didn’t know All or Nothing Day existed, right? Well, July 26 marks this not-so-recognized holiday when we should give everything we have to our goals, be it our career, relationships, health, or lifelong dreams. You may remember from my last newsletter that I’m extremely work-oriented and have been working for a significant portion of my life. When it comes to giving my all, it’s something I’ve been doing in my career for as long as I can remember. If I’m doing a job, I’m going to do it right! I’m the kind of person who takes great pride in their work and would never want to provide a service that was only halfway done. I’ve also always believed that if someone is reaching out for your assistance, it’s your duty to do your best for them. But what can we do when we just aren’t feeling as motivated as usual? I’m sure you’ve had those days when it feels like you have to trudge through the mud just to get the day done. We’ve all been there! Some days, not even

you ever start to lose motivation (which is honestly inevitable). Whether it’s for work, fitness, or some other ambition in your life, when you feel like you’re no longer giving your all, consider the following tips. Remember the ‘why.’ With the mayhem of everyday life, it can be easy to forget why you had these goals in the first place. When you’re overwhelmed, you start thinking about how you’ll make it happen, when you can get everything done, and other logistics that can leave you in procrastination mode. I’ve realized that returning to “why” I need to give my all is a surefire way to boost my motivation and get back on track. Visualize your goal. When you take time to envision your goal and what success looks like, you can better understand the exact steps you need to take to get there. Sometimes figuring out what to do next can be your biggest challenge! Think of the bigger picture. When it comes to my work, I sometimes need to look at the big picture. For example, who are the people being affected by my work? How will my hard work help them? How does this task bring me closer to my goals? If you want to accomplish more, you need to think big! You might as well give nothing if you’re not giving your all. When you start having this mindset, you’ll push yourself not just to get the job done but to create or do something that you’re proud of. I hope that on July 26, you’ll remember these tips and start working diligently toward whatever goals you set for yourself. I wish you the best of luck!

multiple cups of coffee seem to pull you through. That’s when it’s time to shift your mindset. I have a few tips for you if

Sustainable Living Made Simple GOING GREEN FOR SUMMER

While summer is a favorite season for many, it’s also a time when people start slacking in their sustainability efforts. They start using more air conditioning or try other environmentally unfriendly methods. While there are certainly some days when we need the A/C, there are many more we can survive without it. In addition to turning off the air conditioner, there are other things we can do regularly to ensure a sustainable summer.

energy. Instead of relying on the A/C, utilize your fans more often or open your windows after the sun goes down. Don’t leave your air conditioner on if you’re leaving the house for more than a few hours. Also, keep in mind that summer brings more sunlight, which means we can open the curtains and let the sunshine in instead of turning on a few lights. Get your produce from farmers markets. Farmers markets offer a great selection of local produce and other foods. If you’ve never been or don’t go regularly, you should make a habit of going as often as you can. Not only are you supporting local businesses and farmers, but you’re also helping the environment since you’re buying from vendors that don’t have to travel far to sell their products. Avoid using disposable products. Summer is the best time for picnics, and many will try to use Styrofoam cups and plastic utensils for easy cleanup. However, these items are incredibly harmful to the environment! Rather than buying single-use items, bring Tupperware or other reusable containers, and be sure to clean up after yourself.

Here are a few practices to incorporate into your life this summer that will be less damaging to the environment than the alternatives.

Control your home temperature and lighting. We all know how refreshing it can feel to walk into an air-conditioned home after a hot summer day, but air conditioners use a lot of

Embrace Diversity at the International Folk Festival MANY CULTURES, ONE COMMUNITY Our country, and even our community alone, comprises countless cultures originating from all over the world. What better way to celebrate that diversity than dance, music, and food? This month, you can witness a range of colorful folk dance and music performances from vibrant countries at the 40th Folkmoot International Festival! Located in downtown Waynesville, the celebration has become North Carolina’s official international festival and was created to appreciate our neighbors and local communities. We’ll be able to celebrate the enriching history of the Appalachian Mountains and all of the people who made this state their newfound home, bringing all their traditions and culture with them. So, what can you expect at the Folkmoot International Festival? Live dance and musical performances, creative crafts, delicious international cuisine, and beer from every corner of the world! The festival was initiated in 1983 when Dr. Clinton Border, a local surgeon, followed a folk dance troupe traveling to Sidmouth, England. There, he witnessed the beauty that occurs when different cultures unite. It was then that he knew western North Carolina would be the perfect place for an international festival, as its own community was already so full of culture. The first Folkmoot Festival took place a year later, and the rest is history. It became a celebrated event that brings performers not just from around the U.S. but around the world. The 40th Folkmoot Festival takes place Saturday, July 29, on Main Street, Waynesville, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.! Check out Folkmoot.org for more information about International Day and other events, workshops, and classes the organization holds. We hope you can attend the festival on July 29 and learn more about the beautiful cultures that make up our great community. Who knows, maybe you might make a few new friends from around the world when you’re there!

Find the Perfect Beach Rental DISCOVER YOUR IDEAL SEASIDE RETREAT

One of the most important decisions anyone will make regarding their vacation is where they stay. This is especially true for summer vacations at the beach. Everyone has a different idea of their ideal vacation, and where you stay can make or break the trip. Here are a few things to consider before booking a beach rental for your vacation. Size Matters How many people are coming on your trip? Is it just you and your significant other, or are children coming? You will want to pick a rental to fit your family’s needs. If your traveling party is small, a condo or apartment overlooking the beach will likely work. If your family is large or you’re worried about the kids being too loud, consider a single-family beach house instead. Location, Location, Location You probably already know what beach to visit, but choosing a specific unit can be challenging. Is a rental with a grand view of the beach and the ocean worth the cost, or is one without quite the view (but less expensive) still acceptable? You’ll also need to examine the surrounding area to ensure it has everything you need.

If you don’t want to drive much once you settle in, choose a rental within walking distance of the beach, shops, and restaurants. The Extras You should consider a couple of other things when booking a beach rental. If you plan to bring your pets, ensure the rental you book is pet-friendly. It’s also worth investigating if the beach itself is dog-friendly, as bringing your furry friend to the beach can make the vacation even more enjoyable. Many rentals also provide beach toys, body boards, and more so you don’t have to spend money buying or renting them at shops. Read through the rental description, and don’t hesitate to ask the owner any questions.
