remporté le premier prix du concours de français, 5000 dollars pour des études post- secondaires à l’Université d’Ottawa. «Je me suis souvent fait dire que j’ai une belle plume par mes proches. Mais là, je suis contente de voir ça se confirmer vraiment», a confié Adrienne Brassard. Celle-ci a confié ne pas vouloir faire car- rière dans la création littéraire, mais elle compte bien continuer d’écrire et possible- ment publier un premier roman à l’avenir. Pour parvenir à cette réussite, elle devait participer à quatre épreuves, soit une dictée, une épreuve de lecture, la rédaction d’un résumé et texte argumentatif. Adrienne s’est distinguée en terminant troisième aux épreuves de rédaction pour mériter une
bourse monétaire de 500 dollars. Elle a en- suite obtenu une des meilleures notes pour les épreuves de dictée et de lecture pour se classer parmi les champions du concours. Adrienne Brassard arrive cette année à la fin de son séjour à l’école secondaire. ROCKLAND | Une élève de l’école secondaire catholique L’Escale de Rockland s’est admirablement démarquée auconcoursprovincial de françaisqui avait lieu le 16 mai, au Collège universitaire de Glendon, à Toronto. Plusieurs élèves issus des écoles franco- phones de l’Ontario se sont rencontrés à cette compétition des mots. ORLÉANS | Il y a de cela 400 ans, Samuel de Champlain effectuait un passage dans la région de l’Est ontarien. Afin de soulign- er ce voyage historique, la Société franco- ontarienne du patrimoine et de l’histoire d’Orléans (SFOPHO) organise, en collabo- ration avec plusieurs partenaires, une fête tout au long de la journée du 4 juin pro- chain, de 9h30 à 21h. Les activités se dérouleront à l’Île Petrie, au 727, chemin Trim à Orléans. Les gens pourront assister à la mise à l’eau d’un canot d’écorce traditionnel algonquin. Le tout sera agrémenté de témoignages d’élèves de l’école secondaire publique De La Salle (CÉPEO) qui ont créé le canot avec l’aide de Christian Pilon, un authentique voyageur. Ensuite sera présenté le Spectacle du 400e par les comédiens de L’écho d’un peuple. Après, les gens pourront apprécier les artistes, artisans ou interprètes du pat- rimoine qui performeront ou animeront sous le grand chapiteau et sous les diverses tentes. Il y aura entre autres le groupe Les St-Pierre de même que le cultivateur-chan- teur Louis Racine accompagné d’élèves. Il y aura également des expositions, des animations, des panneaux sur l’histoire des familles pionnières et bien d’autres activités. L’entrée et le stationnement seront libres et le terrain est accessible aux personnes à mobilité réduite. Plusieurs dignitaires seront également sur place tels le maire Jim Watson de la Ville d’Ottawa, le député provincial Phil Mc- Neely, le député fédéral Royal Galipeau, ain- si que les directions du Conseil des écoles catholiques du Centre-Est et du Conseil des écoles publiques de l’Est de l’Ontario. Les gens pourront, s’ils le désirent, pren- dre part au souper communautaire au coût de huit dollars pour adultes et quatre dol- lars pour les moins de cinq ans.
