U.S. Box, Linerboard Producers Comment On Price Increases According to a recent report by Fastmarkets, North Ameri- can linerboard pricing stabilized in May following a volatile February-through-April period that resulted in a net $50 per ton increase by April, even as market participants re- main divided over whether additional increases will hold. From May 11-14, buyers and sellers described a firm containerboard supply environment across North Ameri- ca, with some buyers struggling to secure tons quickly as the impact of significant capacity reductions continued moving through the system. The tightening supply picture has become a more dom- inant market factor than box demand itself. Since February 2025, US producers have retired approximately 3.9 mil- lion tons of containerboard capacity, representing about 10 percent of total industry capacity.
