You just never know when the Holy Spirit will speak to you.
Decades ago, in the 1980s, Precious Moments creator, Sam Butcher, found himself surrounded by the most peaceful and serene setting near a small town in the Ozarks. He just knew God had a hand in placing him in that very spot. As he lay awake in bed that night, he was called to do something special with the hidden jewel he had stumbled upon. Taking a leap of faith, Sam moved his family. It wasn’t long before plans were drawn, permits were applied for, and construction began on what is now the Precious Moments Chapel in Carthage, Missouri. The hours, days, months, and years of painstaking painting were not easy, but Sam would tell you that every minute was worth it. The result was his gift of gratitude for God’s many blessings upon his life. He remains always thankful to the loyal Club Members who, through their support and encouragement, helped to make the Precious Moments Chapel possible. The murals you see today throughout the Chapel are from his faith-filled, heartfelt labor of love. Since the Chapel opened its doors in 1989, millions of people have visited. As you step inside, or walk the gardens, it is still Sam’s hope that everyone not only feels the Lord’s presence, but also His infinite mercy and love. Sam is so very glad that when the Holy Spirit spoke to him, he had the courage to listen. Everyone who has experienced the Chapel’s peace is equally grateful! As Sam continues his conversations with God, he keeps you all in his prayers. He fully appreciates all the prayers he receives in return, and humbly asks that they continue into the future.
