W ith the launch of the mechanical installation division, Braham Group offers a complete services package to their clients and has secured exciting prospects for the following years. According to MD Ciaran McQuaid, EV charging is definitely a sector to invest in moving forward. “We are going to focus on EV charging in general, but more at a commercial level, as in EV for buses and cars,” he commented. “That is where a big piece of the workload is going to be, and in which we are going to be expanding over the next 10 years”. Translink EV Superchargers The first phase of this project provided the launch of Translink’s new scheme to install EV chargers
across all its bus stations and maintenance facilities in Northern Ireland. With a new fleet of electric buses on the way, the first two sites selected for this project were the Milewater Service Station and the Short Strand Bus Station, and over 50 superchargers were installed. Large LV switchboards were housed in GRP custom-made enclosures, and Braham Group worked closely with Henry Brothers to install a complex post-mounted containment system to carry the large cables to each supercharger. Additional works were also carried out at Newtownabbey Bus Depot, which had been selected as the first base for the new hydrogen-powered bus fleet. The company installed 28 retractable charging supplies at new parking bays to allow flexibility for the site.
The second phase of the project will mirror the first one, with new supercharger installations at Coleraine and Pennyburn (Derry) Bus Depots.
