Leading multi-channel electrical distributor CEF is bringing its CPD-accredited TechTalks events to even more venues due to customer demand. The new series is coming to Sligo, Limerick and Dublin on March 2023. The talks are promoted in partnership with the IET and this time will focus on helping electricians and contractors get up to speed with the proposed changes to Electric Vehicle Charging Installations and Solar Photovoltaic (PV) Power Supply Systems. TechTalks presenter Darren Staniforth said, “I see it as my job to share the golden nuggets of information that our electricians and contractors need to stay compliant and safe, and to help them provide a great service to their customers, just like we do at CEF.” Over 4,000 electricians and contractors attended the first series of TechTalks between April and July 2022, and each received a CPD certificate for 3.5 hours of training. LMETB delivers major apprenticeship centre for Drogheda

Louth and Meath Education and Training Board (LMETB) has announced the establishment of a major Apprenticeship Centre for Drogheda, the first of its kind in Ireland. Demand for apprenticeship in Ireland remains exceptionally high, with 8,607 apprenticeship registrations in 2021, the highest since 2007. There is also a significant challenge with electrical waiting lists, with circa 3,500 apprentices waiting on training for this programme at present. Martin G O’Brien, Chief Executive

Officer of LMETB, and member of the Drogheda Implementation Board said, “We are very pleased to bring this new centre to Drogheda. It will enable LMETB to grow and expand our capacity to deliver apprenticeships across the region and addressing the current waiting list”. It is anticipated that the centre will open in early spring and provide training to almost 400 apprentices annually. It will also mean the establishment of up 20 new permanent jobs in Drogheda.
