SOLAR PANELS RESOLUTE ENGINEERING GROUP SUPPLIED AND INSTALLED PV SYSTEMS IN THE NEW COILLTE PAVILION AND THE VISITORS CENTRE AT THE TOP-NOTCH TRAVEL DESTINATION IN CO. WICKLOW…

R esolute Engineering Group worked in yet another partnership with Cobec Engineering to supply and install solar panels and PV systems in the two new builds at Avondale House and Forest Park. The new Coillte Pavilion and the Visitors Centre were equipped with 93 solar panels and a 36 kW system between the two buildings. The PV will generate 30,000 kWh of electricity per year. “All the electricity used by the complex is produced right there, which makes the project even more sustainable as there are no transmission losses,” explained Joe Brennan, Managing Director at the Resolute Engineering Group. Great coordination The Managing Director was happy to say the project ran seamlessly from planning to delivery. Joe explained the process starts way before the solar panels go onto the roof. From cost estimates, technical

you keep as well, so finding solutions for companies like John Sisk & Son and Cobec is great for our portfolio.” Predictability as a good thing Resolute also provides residential PV installation and retrofitting through Going Solar, a separate division of the company. With energy bills on the rise, predictability in energy generation is certainly welcome. With 15 years of experience in installing PV, Joe commented solar panels are so predictable in terms of electricity generation they risk being “boring”. “With so many grants available, there is no reason not to use PV. You know exactly how many kWh the panels will produce per year, and they require very little maintenance. Everyone gets excited about wind turbines, but their maintenance costs can get quite high. PV is the good child of the family, it sits there and does its job quietly,” he joked.

client and other contractors. “Our client – the electrical or

mechanical contactor – the main contractor, structure engineers and the roofing contractor all have to sign off on the project while it is still on paper,” Joe commented. “This part of the project is very important, and that’s why we like working with Cobec Engineering. They are very good at coordinating the project and bring a personal approach to the process, so you can be sure to be getting a high- standard installation.” Joe commented the team at Resolute also provided project management and then quality control at hand over. “We have a great team here,” he said. “You are only as good as the company
