BUILDING FOR THE FUTURE CARBON NEUTRAL BY 2025

Errigal will be carbon neutral by 2025. This is something that we are striving for as a company and as individuals. We are all individually responsible for looking after our planet making it a cleaner and safer environment for future generations.

What is carbon neutrality?

Companies, processes and products become carbon neutral when they calculate their carbon emissions and compensate for what they have produced via carbon offsetting projects. Offsetting carbon emissions, in addition to avoidance and reduction, is an important step in holistic climate action. This can be done by means of forest conservation, afforestation or renewable energy expansion.

As a comapny we make a conscious effort to work with supply chain partners that share our environmental aims and are close to our sites to limit transport associated emissions.

We will continue to work with experts to help us in our goal of becoming carbon neutral by 2025 and look forward to announcing several new initiatives over the coming year.

Our number one priority will always be the safety of all staff and all who work with us. Errigal achieve the highest levels of health and safety performance and always strive to improve. We are highly committed to a goal of zero harm and we achieve this by identifying the hazards and risks involved with jobs and activities. HEALTH AND SAFETY UPDATE

BATTLING COMPLACENCY We recognise that complacency is one of the most serious hazards that faces our workforce on a daily basis. Our team are continuously working on ways to battle complacency on site to ensure that operatives stay focused and maintain high standards of safety at all times. One such way was through onsite safety and wellbeing workshops and demonstrations, followed by inhouse testing and presentations delivered by our H&S teamand supply chain.

Our very own Sarah O'Leary completied the London marathon raising £13,000 in the process for her charity, Prostate Cancer, in memory of her uncle Ed. Sarah showed great tenacity and Errigal spirit completing the marathon despite the pressures of covid, injury and working full time. What a fantastic achievement.

In November staff participated in the Movember challenge, with the guys in the office growing their moustaches while others took part in the 60k challenge in aid of prostate cancer, mental health and suicide prevention that will affect most of us directly or indirectly at some point in our lives.

SUPPORTING THE ATAXIA FOUNDATION IRELAND Friedreichs Ataxia is a genetic and progressive disorder of the central nervous system which usually manifests itself in children between the ages of six and sixteen years. Errigal have been supporting the Ataxia Foundation Ireland for several years. In 2018 the main charity event was a gala for Ataxia and we raised an amazing £70,000.

This year Mark Cokes is taking on the challenge of swimming the English Channel in an effort to raise money and raise awareness for ATAXIA. Errigal will be supporting him on his journey, hosting a number of events throughout the year culminating in a Gala in September where we hope to exceed the money raised in 2018.

AIR AMBULANCE NORTHERN IRELAND

This year Errigal have donated £10,000 in lieu of Christmas gifts to Air Ambulance Northern Ireland . This is a charity very close to our hearts as it came to the aid of one of the Errigal family in 2021. We will be forever grateful for the amazing work done by these heroes

WINTER WONDERLAND Errigal spread some much-needed cheer in the community with a Winter Wonderland Extravaganza in aid of Errigal Truagh Special Needs & Tru Beginnings Childcare.

We had a Christmas Market, face-painting, storytelling, toasted marshmallows and lots of festive cheer. Our walks were transformed into an enchanted trail with magical creatures around every corner.

Santa arrived in style on his Santa Mobile with gifts galore and everyone was on the 'Nice' list. Well done to all involved we raised some much needed funds for two very worthy causes.

SYSTEMS DEVELOPMENT MAFIC : SAFEGUARD

Errigal have invested in ground-breaking technology on their sites, to improve health and safety and productivity.

Mafic is a wearable safeguard device which is located on the back of hard hats. The devices uses machine learning to recognise unique movement patterns of users carrying out different tasks throughout the day.

Mafic device

Device charging station

Mafic is now rolled out on One Nine Elms project in London and devices are currently worn by all operatives on site. The data collected is being used by operational/commercial teams daily to help with decisionmaking.

Dashboards display a daily activity profile of the operatives on One Nine Elms throughout different stages of the day and presents activity as a % of hat time showing when the operative is stationary, walking, active and when they remove their hat.

RESULT – INCREASED PRODUCTIVITY, OUTPUT AND WAGES.

MODULAR CONSTRUCTION At Errigal, We work closely with manufacturers across all sectors, testing new technology and equipment to develop solutions to help reach new standards in sustainability, waste reduction as well as cost management. Modular construction, also known as off-site construction or prefabrication, is one of the new and exciting construction methods that allow us to achieve those goals. We are using these construction methods on several projects most notably, Platinum House inMilton Keynes.

The third floor extension to Platinum House is progressing at pace using modular SFS panels. These panels are delivered to site and installed into the correct positions. This is much faster than traditional methods where the base and head tracks must be laid and vertical studs installed at the correct centres. These will then be ready for any site applied internals and cladding systems. This allows for effective time savings across the overall project.

Prefabricated SFS Panels

Cormac McCloskey "Modular Construction allows for early collaboration and a lot of sectors are seeing the benefits of this, such as healthcare and education. It is becoming increasingly important to do as much construction off-site, reducing the number of people required on-site to install works"-

SPECWALL ADVANCED WALL SYSTEM Specwall is a non-load bearing masonry composite panel. These are precast panels that slot together using a tongue and groove joint which is cast on each end of the panel. It can be used for internal and external applications as an alternative to Blockwork, SFS and Metal Stud Drylining. Errigal is keen to invest in innovative and sustainable building solutions and have been using Specwall across a number of projects to great success.

EUROPE UPDATE 2021 brought a milestone we are very proud of here in Errigal as we recently commenced work on our 50th data centre, in Frankfurt, Germany. This milestone is a testament to the hard work, dedication and knowledge of the teams involved from procurement, design and delivery and all the support functions we rely on for the smooth delivery and handover of our projects.

The spread of Covid-19 means that the demand for digital communications, and therefore for the data centre services that underpin them, is rising sharply. Europe’s largest internet exchanges have seen record traffic in recent times as more and more people move to remote working, teleconferencing, a further reliance on social media and communication apps and the adoption of cloud services. At Errigal we have positioned ourselves as a Tier 1 fitout and façade contractor to meet our clients demands in this exciting market.

EXPANSION IN SWITZERLAND This year and following the successful completing of 2 major projects in the region, Errigal GmbH further strengthened our position in the market and put down roots in the Zurich area with the lease of a 1,000m2 off-site manufacturing and storage facility with offices and yard. This long-term commitment in the region is testament to the clients and supply chain we have worked with across the years and shows Errigal are here for the long term.

"We have been trusted to achieve excellence and we have delivered on that faith year on year. Our teams have stepped up to the ever-increasing challenges and magnitude of projects with enthusiasm and energy which always embodies the Errigal Way. 2022 will be Errigal’s busiest year in Europe to date and we relish the thought with the teams, supply chain and drive to deliver" Mark Landers Contracts Director Europe

The scope of works is varied and challenging and is a real testament to Errigal’s capabilities and knowledge in delivering excellent quality across all through-wall solutions. The Errigal team overcame several challenges on this project. Logistical restrictions required careful coordination on the delivery of materials, whilst planning requirements needed to be met whilst still delivering on the required fire and weather performance necessities.

2019

The Errigal team worked on a live site where residents had moved into apartments whilst others were still under construction. This has meant keeping lines of communication open with residents and being considerate to those who are at home more than often during a pandemic and therefore exposed to more disruption. The proximity of the apartments to the flight paths of London City Airport required acoustic parameters to be implemented. The apartments were also in short distance to the London Underground, which meant that communication and comprehensive forward planning was crucial to facilitate the works without interrupting schedules.
