Pratt Industries To Invest $5B For Recycling, Clean Energy

In October, Pratt officially opened its $200 million cor- rugator plant in Park City, Kansas, outside of Wichita. The one million square-foot facility is expected to create 300 full time jobs. “The value of our investment in American recycling and clean energy infrastructure is already now over $10 bil- lion,” Anthony said. “In America, steady growth is forever and we are honored to have built five out of the last seven paper mills, all 100 percent recycled.” AICC Emerging Leaders Invited To Register For Leadership Seminar AICC, The Independent Packaging Association, has announced that registration is open for an upcoming Leadership Webinar targeted for young professionals in the Emerging Leader (EL) Program. The virtual presenta- tion, titled “Finding the Right Customer Fit,” features guest speakers Andrew Akers and Jim Akers of the third-genera- tion independent box manufacturer, Akers Packaging Ser- vice. The Akers will discuss how to identify great business opportunities, target the right customers, and develop partnerships, not just transactions. The presentation, open only to AICC’s Emerging Leaders, takes place on Decem- ber 8 at 3:00 p.m. EST. Pratt Industries Executive Chairman, Anthony Pratt, has pledged to invest $5 billion in U.S. recycling and clean energy infrastructure to create 5,000 American manufac- turing jobs over the next 10 years. Pratt made the pledge – his largest ever commitment – to Caroline Kennedy, the U.S. Ambassador to Australia. “Pratt Industries is proud to already be the largest Aus- tralian employer of Americans – providing 11,000 well-pay- ing, green-collar jobs in more than 70 factories across the nation,” Pratt said. Part of the new commitment is in Hen- derson, Kentucky, where the company is building a 100 percent recycled paper mill. An investment of $500 mil- lion, the mill is one of the biggest economic development achievements in Western Kentucky in the past 25 years. Pratt is also building a 700,000-square-foot corrugator plant adjacent to the mill. The combined project expects to bring more than 300 full time jobs to the area and more than 700 jobs for the construction phase. Earlier this year, Pratt announced plans to open a regional manufactur- ing and innovation center in Cedar Hill, Texas, outside of Dallas, where it will occupy one million square-feet and invest more than $200 million in equipment and building improvements. The company also plans to employ 150 full time workers at the new facility.

Do you need printed sheets? We have your answer.. Introducing Heartland’s ColorCorr. This is “flexo-printing in the round”. On our corrugator we can print up to 109” wide. The advantage is that we can print the equivalent of ½ roll at a time and not be required to keep several rolls of very expensive preprinted paper on the floor. Much less waste and risk. In continual print mode, we use either laser-engraved rubber rolls or solid rubber rolls to print a “flood coat” or a repeating pattern. If we are printing a repeating pattern, we can run a two-color design on the paper. Customers have found that running sheets we print can allow them to run a lighter-grade due to reduced caliper loss, and in some cases eliminate one or more machine passes.
