HE Psalms give us a picture of the hearts of men unveiled. Here the souls of men are ex­ pressed. In these we see human nature at its best and •at its worst. Here are heard the boastings of the wicked,

the cry of the oppressed, the plead­ ings of the godly, the wailing of the sorrowing, and the joyful exultation of the righteous.
