The Lord sient two of His disciples, (Mark 14:13). Luke says Peter and John, (Luke 22:8). They were to meet a man bearing a pitcher of water and were to follow him and ask for a room for the Master. He exercised His supreme authority as when He sent them for the ass and colt, (Matt. 2-1:2). This man was probably a dis ciple. Some have thought the place was the home1of Mary, the mother of John Mark, where the disciples after ward met for prayer and received the Holy Spirit, (Acts 1:13) and where prayer was made for Peter when he was in prison, (Acts 12:12). Edersheim says: “A room was needed with tables surrounded by couches, for the Passover Feast must be eaten redlining, since it was a canon that even the poorest must partake of that supper in a reclining attitude to indicate rest, safety and liberty.” (2) THE FEAST: “And as they did eat.” What a history lieis between the first Passover, that night in Egypt, and this

INTRODUCTION The city of Jerusalem was making ready for the great fe«.st. The Jews were plotting to kill the Lord. At Bethany our Lord had been anointed. He had made His tri- LESSON umphal entry into EXPOSITION Jerusalem. He had T. C. Horton cursed the fig tree, and on Olivet He had given the discourse we have been study ing, and after a few days’ rest in Beth any, He comes to the city for the Pass- over Feast. (1) THE PLACE: “I will keep the Passover at thy house.” Having no home of His' own in Jeru salem He must secure the home of an other. The people of Jerusalem were free in offering their homes to strang ers for this feast. ‘ A curtain was some times hung before the front door as a sign that there w&s still room for guests. Our Lord made choice of a room which He did not designate, perhaps only to keep the place a secret from
