T HE K I N G ’S B U S I N E S S ■'Just as I am, without one plea, But that Thy Blood was shed for me, And that Thou hidst me come to Thee, O, Lamb of God, I come.” When Eddy died and lay like one sleeping, the Queen adds, “I turned to the table at his bedside and I saw the little Book In which were written those words, and I could not help feeling that he had clung to the cross, and that it had all come true. That God whom the princes of the British Empire know shys that any hope for Eternity must be based upon the Blood shed on Calvary.” Christ died FOB sin. Believers die TO sin. Unbelievers die In sin. What a picture of Calvary. The repentant thief died to sin. The cursing thief died in sini Christ in the center died For all sin. One by faith reckoned his sins upon Christ. A man took a photo of men stealing grapes; he went to the' owner, was about to show him the plate, and found he had exposed it to the sun too long, and it had been blotted out. So sin is blotted out when it is exposed to the Son of God. He did away with sin by His work on the cross. Bible Illustration.—Gen. 3:21. God shed the. first atoning blood and made a covering for the guilty pair. Gen. 4:1-8. Abel brought a blood sacrifice to God and it was accepted, Gen. 22:1- 13. Abraham offered up his only be gotten son, Isaac. Ex. 12:1-13. The Blood was sprinkled on the lintel and two side posts of the door of the house of an Israelite for God said, “When I see the blood I will pass over you.” My Debt Paid.—At Pleva, the Tsar went around his camp to cheer his men, and found an officer who had fallen asleep while writing his wife. He des cribed his hard work and experience in the trenches, but said those were noth ing compared to his debts. ‘“Who will pay my debts?” he wrote—and while brooding over them, he fell asleep. The

Tsar glanced over his shoulder and read the letter, and then wrote under the question, “I will—-Alexander.” When the officer awoke he saw the promise, thanked his sovereign, and went to his work with a light heart. Who will pay sin’s heavy debts for you? Faith sees Jesus dip His pen in His own life Blood and write the words “I will-4; Jesus the Crucified.” Golden Text Illustration.— ost peo ple are familiar with a remarkable and striking picture that appeared some years ago, copies of which were to be seen in most artist’s windows. It was a picture of a skull or death’s head. At a distance it was that and nothing more. A picture to make one shudder. But on drawing nearer to it the picture was transformed into life and beauty. Thus we see in the Lord’s Supper, not alone the horrible death of agony and shame, we see also the amazing love of God and of Christ, also our glorious redemption. In one of the old-fashioned mansions in this country there is still to be seen a brass bound clock upon the staircase landing with the hands fixed at the. min ute and hour when Washington died. The grandfather of the present owner was a pall-bearer at the funeral of the great statesman, and set the hands where- they have ever since remained. That clock has remembered through out the life of our nation the death of Washington. So should a Christian throughout his life remember the death of the Son of God. v. 14. Then. There is a dividing line in every ptefsonal history, a time when it is settled whether the evil or the good is to be the stronger force in the life. '4-,, COMMENTS FROM Weekly Pulpit.
