Hello and Welcome! Welcome to the 2026 Prairie Hills Gelbvieh Annual Production Sale, and thank you for your interest in our program. Looking back on the past year, it’s hard to remember a time when North Dakota weather tested both cattle and cattlemen more. From dry stretches to sudden moisture, heat to cold, dust to snow, 2025 delivered extremes in every direction.
And yet, the cattle did what good cattle are supposed to do.
Despite the challenges, our cow herd maintained strong breed-up and conception rates, once again proving the value of functional, adaptable genetics. That kind of resilience doesn’t happen by accident. It is the result of disciplined selection with a long-term focus on fertility, maternal efficiency, and longevity. The outlook for the cattle business remains very encouraging. Markets continue to reward quality cattle, and optimism has returned to the cow-calf sector. At the same time, rising input costs make efficiency more important than ever. That is why we place such a strong emphasis on the maternal side of the pedigree. The bulls you buy in 2026 will shape your cow herd for the next decade. Investing in genetics that produce fertile, productive, and durable females is one of the most reliable decisions you can make, regardless of weather or market cycles. This year’s offering features sons of our proven returning sires RWG Jealous, LVL Frontrunner, and PHG Eminence. In addition, a number of new sires have been added to expand genetic selection and continue pushing our program forward. We are also excited to offer our largest set of Balancer bulls to date, giving commercial cattlemen added flexibility and consistency in crossbreeding systems. We are extremely proud of the depth and uniformity of this year’s offering and believe it is the strongest set of bulls we have ever presented. Our goal remains to provide you with genetics that not only make you money, but bulls you’ll be proud to have walking your pasture.

The bulls are developed using the Hubbard BluePrint® nutrition program from conception through sale day. They are grown on a forage-based ration with a target gain of 3 to 3.5 pounds per day,
allowing them to express growth and performance while staying fresh and structurally sound. Given the wide range of weather conditions this fall and winter, we are very pleased with how these bulls have performed and matured.
Due to the extreme temperature fluctuations this fall and winter, some bulls show evidence of rubbing or ringworm. We believe in complete transparency and present the cattle exactly as they are. Sale photos have not been touched up or doctored in any way. These bulls have been developed, photographed, and evaluated under real conditions, and we stand firmly behind their soundness, health, and long-term performance. We are again pleased to welcome two guest consignors to the sale - Shawn Kuhnhenn and Kayla Brew. Their bulls have been managed alongside the Prairie Hills bulls since weaning, on the same health and nutrition program, and sell with the same guarantee. The sale will once again be held at the renovated sale facility at Klint & Maralee’s. All cattle will sell by video, with bulls available for viewing just outside the facility. The sale will be broadcast live on DVAuction.com, with phone bidding available by arrangement.
