see the boldness of Peter, “ Ye men of Israel, hear these words; Jesus of Nazareth, a man approved of God among you by miracles and wonders and signs, which God did by him in the midst of you, as ye yourselves also know: Him, being delivered by the determinate counsel and fore knowledge of God, |ye have taken, and by wicked hands have crucified and slain: whom God hath raised up, having loosed the pains of death: because it was riot possible that he should be holden of it.” The result of Peter’s preaching is found in verse 37, “ Now when they heard this, they were pricked in their heart, and said unto Peter and to the rest of the apostles, Men and brethren, what shall we do?” The Holy Spirit indwells each Christian, but there is a need for His infilling, in order that His followers may be ready to give forth His mes sage at all times. instrument in the hands of its owner, with which a message may be writ ten. Very important messages have been written with pens. Pens have been used to place signatures on treaties and contracts. Christians, like pens, should be yielded instruments in the hand of God, in order that they may be used of Him. Both of these pens are yielded to my hand, but they are different, even as Christians are different. In what way do these pens differ? “ One has to be dipped often, and the other is a fountain pen.” You are right. All Christians are supposed to give forth God’s message whenever they have an opportunity. Some do this only when they have recently been fed by a sermon or a Bible lesson. At other times they are dry and cannot be used to give out God’s message. Other Christians are like a fountain pen. They are filled and ready at all times to be used of God. These pens remind me of the dis ciples. There were times when they would follow Christ closely, and at other times they followed Him afar off: Peter at one time confessed Christ as the Son of God, but later denied Him. These things took place before the day of Pentecost, when they were filled with the Holy Spirit.

Gospel, baptizing the people that be lieved. Baptism has been preaching a silent sermon for nearly two thou sand years. Baptism speaks to us of the death, burial and resurrection of Christ. The world needs to know of the death of Christ for sin and His resurrection from the dead. Let us now look at the other jar, for it too preaches a silent sermon. There is no water inside this jar, but if you look closely, you will see a small bottle of grape juice and a piece of bread. The sermon this jar preaches is about the Lord’s Supper. Ever since Jesus served this Supper to His disciples, Christian people have been following His example. The Lord’s Supper has been preaching a silent sermon for almost two thousand years. We can better realize the impor tance of this silent sermon when we remember that Jesus said that the bread was to remind His followers of His body which was given for them. We must never lose sight of this im portant truth. At the supper, Jesus took the cup and said that the wine was like His blood which was shed for sins. As we think of this silent sermon, God would have us look back to the cross of Christ, where His body was given and His blood shed. He would have us look within our own hearts and make sure that there is no un confessed sin. Then He would have us look forward to the coming of Christ, for He said: “ For as often as ye eat this bread, and drink this cup, ye do show the Lord’s death till he come” (1 Cor. 11:26).
