Chad Forman wasn’t just a long-time cowboy at Eagle Pass Ranch — he was a close friend of the family and a big part of everyday life around here. He was the kind of guy you wanted in the pens with you and the kind of guy you wanted around when the work was done. Chad was always smiling, always ready with a story, and usually the one keeping things light when the day got long. He had a way of making work feel less like work, and his laugh could be heard across the ranch. He took a lot of pride in making sure the bulls looked right on sale day. Chad was the one who got the sale bulls ready every year, torching and clipping thousands over the years, paying attention to the details and making sure they were presented the way they should be. That care showed, year after year. This year, it meant a lot to all of us to have his son, Blade, carrying that tradition forward and torching bulls just like his dad did. Seeing Blade step in was a reminder that Chad’s influence is still very much a part of this place. We miss Chad every time we work cattle, but his presence, his humor, and his friendship live on here — in the stories, in the work, and in the people who learned from him.
