CENTURY CITY ARTS TRAIL

Peter Pharoah Pharoah is an award-winning local artist that was born in Johannesburg in 1969. Pharoah is an accomplished artist with an intense passion for Africa and his subject matter, textures and bold use of colour evoke a strong feeling of Africa and its dying tribal heritage.

Two of Pharoah’s pieces decorate the walls of the Century City Conference Centre’s foyer.

Buhle Mtakatya

Mtakatya is a local artist from Cape Town that was raised in the well-known informal settlement called Khayelitsha.

Mtakatya’s colourful works that are hosted in the Century City Conference Centre are reminiscent of traditional African art.

Boeta Willemse The portrait of Boeta Willemse that can be found on the first floor of the Century City Conference Centre was bought at a charity campaign for the Chaeli Campaign aspart of Ra- bie Property Group’s Social Investment Programme and its commitment to fostering the arts. The Chaeli Campaign was founded in 2004 by five girls be- tween the ages of 6 and 12 and works to promote and pro- vide the mobility and educational needs of disabled children. At the age of two, Boeta, who has Spina Bifida, was placed in the foster care system. Despite his set-backs, Boeta has been resilient in claiming a fully active life and with the sup- port of The Chaeli Campaign has become a very special ability activist.
