Updating Records: For verification purposes, athletes or family members that believe a current record holder is incorrect must submit a copy of the certificate or report that clearly reflects the record program that the record was set in and shows the final run time and date earned. Policy for Updating Record Holders Information: • A record will only be updated within the same record holder program and subcategory that the recipient was recognized in and that is still observed today. • When verified, the athlete’s name with the faster run time will replace the current posted record holder. • Any record and/or run time before 2023 will not be used in the new Regional and National record holder programs, nor in the new divisions and subcategories added in the State and World record holder programs. We recognize that an athlete may have run a faster time however these record holder programs, divisions and subcategories were not offered during those years prior to 2023 and per legal counsel we started these from scratch.
State Record Holder Program Recognizes athletes in the state where they are a resident of. In any case where an athlete qualifies in multiple states, they must select the state to represent during a season. This information can be relayed to the Timer. Earning a State Record Example: Athlete John is a resident of Oregon and com- petes at a sanctioned Challenge event held in Florida. If John’s finish time, in his subcategory, is faster than the current recorded time of an Oregonian in that same category/subcategory, regardless of where the record was earned, John becomes the new State Record Holder for Oregon.
Region Record Holder Program Recognizes athletes in their designated resident region. Athletes can only earn these records at the designated region- al event being held in the region they reside in. Earning the Region Record Example: Athlete Sue is a resident of Utah (a West Region state) and competes at the West Regional Classic event in San Diego. If Sue’s finish time, in her subcategory, is faster than the current recorded time of any other athlete in that category/sub- category in her region, Sue becomes the new West Region Record Holder. IMPORTANT: If a region’s annual regional event is hosted ‘outside’ of the region due to a special or unforeseen circumstance, athletes will be provided details on how the record holder program will operate for the event.
U.S. National Record Holder Program Recognizes any U.S. resident athlete. Earning the U.S. National Record Example: Athlete Larry, a resident of the United States, competes at any sanctioned TFT® Firefighter Challenge Championship Series event in the United States. If Larry’s finish time, in his subcategory, is faster than the current recorded time of any other athlete in the U.S. in that category/subcategory, Larry becomes the new United States Record Holder.
