Wisdom from the ladies on Pledge 100 Thomond 2022 + Tara 20222 VILLAGE VOICES

How determined are your feeling? Do you see the benefit of daily exercise and small changes to ensure a lifetime of health and happiness ahead? So determined. I don't know why, but Susan's video checklist of how she starts her mornings (wake up hangover-free, say her HS Pledge, call upon her ancestors) had a profound effect for me. It sounded like an invocation and an invitation to a happier, healthier, sober life. So I thought if it works for her, chances are it will work for me, too. These little things, plus exercise, plus connection, have made all the difference. I feel one-hundred percent confident that if I maintain these changes, the happiness I feel now will only continue.

Has Pledge 100 awakened HOPE within you? Are you HOPEFUL for the future together as a community and as a sober woman going forward? Pledge 100 certainly did awaken HOPE within me. Pledge 100 awakened self-discipline, introspection, humility, and curiosity. Pledge 100 awakened authenticity, honesty, and perseverance. It's the damnedest thing, this program. So yes, I'm very hopeful that we'll continue onward together in the new year. I've found my tribe, as they say, and know that my life is much richer for it.

Dear me - how can we be "us" when we are drowning in a mind-altering drug or are shrouded in the fog of it's after effects? How can we possess the clarity to work out which bits we want to develop and which to change if we are not "us"? We didn't stand a chance - but now we do ladies, now we do.

I am feeling very motivated and good right now. I am getting better at daily exercise and healthy habits whether it’s mindfulness, connection, meditation, yoga, breath work, etc. There are just been so many great tools these past 100 days! Going back through with you all after the first of the year will be great to start building on the small changes I have made.

Let’s talk about booze. My intuition told me 6 years ago to give it up as a bad job and I continued to try and reason with it, trying to find ways to outsmart it. I now realise that the time for reasoning is gone as there is only one winner if I pick up the glass. -B.N.-
