popularity in the province of Sindh where it maintains control over the
government (BTI, 2022). This popularity is due to its founding father, Zulfiqar
Ali Bhutto, whose family hold a dynasty in the party, including murdered ex-
Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto.
The variety in parties offers choice to the electorate, which is important for
democracy, but the recent election of Ihram Khan has been speculated as the
military's selection (Shah, 2018), again demonstrating the autocratic elements of
the regime. However, the interference is not overt, Khan still needed to form a
coalition to gain a majority government, giving room and voice to other
representatives in the political field, despite the main coalition party being the
supporters of the last military regime.
