By welcoming the new year on a positive note, it is essential that we let go of all the negativities accumulated in the year gone by. Just like with the sunrise every day, a new day begins with the new year and people associate a new chapter in life to begin. It is important we start fresh and welcome the new year as it brings with it, its own set of aspirations, hope, and desires.

I started working at my father’s company, but my first formal job was as Operations Intern in a Tour Operator Company.

I sang in chorus for more than 9 years, and I was very good at dancing jazz and circus.

Where’s your favorite place in the world?

If you could visit anywhere in the world you’ve never been, where would you go? And why?

I love travelling around Brazil, my home country! My favorite Spot would be “Ibitipoca National Park”. If you could have any one superpower, which would you choose? And why? Teleportation! At this moment I wouldn’t lose any family meetings if I could teleport.

Iceland would definitely be my choice now. The natural landscapes of the country amuse me.

Who would you most like to swap places with for a day?

Maybe with a top singer like Alicia Keys just to feel the energy coming from the audience.

Might be really nice to fly around like a bird.

What it takes to be a Security Officer at SLV

All security personnel must first obtain a Security License through the Security Services Division, located in Victoria, BC. To obtain a Security license you must complete what’s known as BST, (Basic Security Training). As part of the SLV-Security Team we conduct an array of duties, some are physical and others are internal, via CCTV (Close Circuit Television), audits and other investigatory methods… you might not see us, but we do see you.

At the completion of BST and AST, an examiner appointed by the Security Services Division will administer an exam. To pass you must obtain 75% or higher for your AST.

To carry handcuffs you must compete your BST and then apply for an, AST course (Advanced Security Training) which covers topics such as Security Services Act and Regulations, Advanced Force Options Theory, Intro to control Tactics etc. Becoming a security officer does require some work and licensing.

Security personnel must adhere to not only the Shangri-La Security Police and Procedures But also Security Industry Compliance and Enforcement, and the Security Services Regulation “Code of Conduct” the Canadian Criminal Code, as it relates to their employment duties.

In order to maintain a position with the Shangri-La Vancouver Security team we must be licensed and maintain good standings with the Security Services Division.

We ensure that polices are followed, via direct coaching or having the employee's direct manager correct the behavior.

On a day to day basis, we conduct an array of duties:

As part of the SLV- Security Team, we must also maintain a First Aid Level 2 certificate, which is valid for three years. For this reason, Security is the first responder for first aid emergencies and must attended to all first aid calls within the hotel, to both our staff and guests.

Shangri-La Group today unveils its signature culinary experiences in Zhoushan with the phase I opening of Shangri-La Zhoushan.
