Mr. Needham said, “But why did it not crush your leg, my boy?” “Because, papa, an angel held up the wheel.” Where did the child get th a t answer if he had not seen the angel or had the tru th revealed to him by God? The tenth verse of this lesson gives us the explanation. No Camouflage in Children. A child is always frank, sincere, and open until he has learned differently from older persons. Mrs. B------ deceived her little hoy in order to keep him from saying something before company. He saw through his mother’s deception and in twenty-four hours was practicing de ception on his mother. A little boy was asked how old he was. He replied, “I am five years old on the train, seven years old when I am at school and six years, old when I am at home.” The moral is self-evident. Golden Text Illustration. A man came into my office one day and told his story. He was penniless, hungry and ill-clad. After finishing his story he said, “Why do I have to go through these awful circumstances?-” I said, “Are you naturally of a proud, haughty, independent nature?” “Yes,” he said, “but I am a t the end of my self.” This condition led him to depend upon God for help. ■M v. 1. God Cares for Children. Of all the classes of society that ex pose themselves to danger, the child runs the greatest risk. They climb on buildings, they clamber over rocks and hang on the edges of precipices, yet how few of them, comparatively, meet disas ter. Even in railroad wrecks, explosions, automobile accidents, etc., we seldom hear of the child being killed. God pro tects His own. A little girl only four years old jumped with her playmate from a beam in the upper floor of a basement barn. She only intended to land on the hay a few feet below, but she bounded to the side of the loft and slid down like a toboggan to the next floor, where she shot head first down the feeding chute to the basement. She struck on the hack of her head and shoulders and was picked up by her father, unharmed. But for her fright she was as well as ever. God guarded her fall. Angels Guard Children, Evang. George Needham used to tell this story about his little boy. One day
