Day 1 Arrival We arrive at our hotel in time for dinner.
Day 4 Colchester & Tiptree Farm & Tearoom We enjoy a morning free in Colchester, Britain’s First City and England’s first Roman capital, which boasts a 2,000-year history. We can explore Colchester Castle and its Castle Museum, which houses stunning Roman finds, or explore the Roman ruins, Firstsite art gallery, and shops. This afternoon, we visit the Tiptree Visitor Centre and Tearoom for a farm tour and Tiptree cream tea* : enjoying a fruit-farm tractor tour and a scrumptious tea. *Farm tours run from June - end August only. Day 2 RHS Hyde Hall & Clayhill Vineyard This morning we visit RHS Garden Hyde Hall . Regarded as one of East England’s finest gardens, this glorious creation delights visitors with everything from a magnificent, drought-resistant Dry Garden and ornamental Hilltop Garden to meadows, woodlands, and ponds, all of which we are free to explore before savouring a delicious cream tea . In the afternoon, we travel to the Clayhill Vineyard for a tour and tasting. Overlooking the River Crouch, this picturesque winery produces excellent wines which we can sample after strolling around its lush vines We spend today at leisure in Southend-on-Sea, allowing us to either simply relax and enjoy the facilities at the Park Inn hotel or take in the many attractions of this popular resort. We can walk or catch the train along the 1.33-mile-long pier to visit its shops and museum; view the sharks, turtles, and penguins at Sea Life Adventure; browse the town’s museums and shops and stroll the seafront for souvenirs and fish and chips. and wine-making facilities.
