This tour combines potteries, grand houses & glorious gardens including 2 must-visit potteries, the World of Wedgwood and Gladstone Pottery, along with the fabulous Shugborough Estate and beautiful Trentham Gardens. We also pay our respects at the National Memorial Arboretum.

Highlighting the best of three of England’s finest counties, our wonderful five-day tour includes visits to two of the most ornate and opulent stately homes – Lincolnshire’s Burghley House and Norfolk’s Houghton Hall. Based in Cambridgeshire’s city of Peterborough, we’ll also enjoy a relaxing and fragrant visit to Norfolk Lavender.

Today we start at the National Memorial Arboretum the UK’s year-round centre of remembrance and home to the Armed Forces Memorial and Millennium Chapel. The land train tour gives us a feel for the layout with the Arboretum featuring over 350 memorials. We spend the afternoon discovering the fascinating history and heritage of the World of Wedgwood with a guided factory tour . NB, time for lunch can be scheduled at either attraction as both have cafés and cater for groups. Day 3 Shugborough Estate & Gladstone Pottery We start our day at Shugborough Estate. This Georgian mansion dates back to the 1600’s and was once home to the Earl of Lichfield. We enjoy a self-guided tour, experiencing upstairs & downstairs for the full effect of life ‘back in the day’! We have time for a quick bite to eat before our afternoon visit to the award-winning Gladstone Pottery . This iconic site is instantly recognisable from the TV series, The Great Pottery Throwdown and is the only complete coal burning Victorian pottery factory in existence. Day 4 Trentham Gardens & Stoke Today we visit Trentham Gardens & Visitor Centre & enjoy a stroll through the Italian Garden. We return to Stoke late afternoon with free time to explore before dinner. Day 5 Departure After breakfast, we make our way home. This morning we enjoy free time in Stamford, known for its beautiful Georgian architecture, farmers’ market and variety of independent shops and cafés. This afternoon, we have a treat in store, a visit to Burghley House , the grand 16th century country home built by Sir William Cecil, Lord High Treasurer to Queen Elizabeth I. The ornate architecture is as breath-taking as the interior’s opulent state rooms. OR A relaxing afternoon cruise with Rutland Water Cruises including onboard cream tea . With onboard commentary, we can enjoy the beautiful reservoir scenery and wildlife. Day 3 Norfolk Lavender & Houghton Hall This morning, we will enjoy a fragrant and relaxing visit to Norfolk Lavender , one of England’s best lavender farms. Set in beautiful gardens with an impressive farm shop selling lavender based products, we can also browse in the gift shop and visit the Lavender Lounge Tearooms. Afterwards, we visit Houghton Hall , the house and gardens of the first British Prime Minister, Sir Robert Walpole (Earl of Orford) who commissioned the magnificent and elaborate House of today. Day 4 Departure After breakfast, we make our way home.
