Day 1 Arrival We arrive at our hotel in time for dinner. Day 2 Lakes Distillery & Keswick
Day 4 Hadrian’s Wall Our destination today is Hadrian’s Wall, where we are joined by a step-on guide who will explain the true history of the wall, during a fascinating journey along Rome’s most Northerly frontier; our expert guide will bring Roman heritage to life. We explore Corbridge, a former Roman village to see some of the most spectacular parts of Hadrian’s Wall and visit Roman Vindolanda to see one of the best- preserved Roman forts and museums. Day 5 Departure After breakfast, we make our way home. This morning, we make our way to the Lakes Distillery for a fascinating guided tour. As this is a working distillery, group sizes are a maximum of 16 people, so you can enjoy a tea or coffee with a biscuit whilst you wait. Our distillery tour will end with a tasting of a Lakes Distillery Vodka, Gin & Whisky followed by free time to visit the on-site shop, perhaps to pick up a favourite tipple or two, using our discount voucher. We then drive along Bassenthwaite towards Keswick, where we spend the rest of the afternoon at leisure. Day 3 Scenic Drive & Settle to Carlisle Railway This morning we take a scenic drive through the Lake District to picturesque Ambleside at the northern end of Windermere. It is a delight with its pretty Victorian grey slate buildings including the pretty Bridge House, specialist shops and independent cafés, and we have some free time at leisure. This afternoon we make our way to Settle where we board the Settle to Carlisle Railway , a spectacular scenic rail journey crossing the iconic Ribblehead Viaduct and passing through the Yorkshire Dales and North Pennines with their changing landscapes.
