Day 1 Arrival We arrive at our hotel in time for dinner. Day 2 Newcastle
full day step-on tour of the Three Families . Explore some of the most influential families in North East England. At Wallington House , we learn about the Blackett family, wealthy mine owners and politically influential, and the famous Trevelyan family. One of the most influential surnames to date, however – and for good reason – must be that of Armstrong. Lord William Armstrong of both Newcastle and Cragside was an industrialist, inventor and philanthropist. Learn about the influences of North East powerhouses during this awe-inspiring National Trust tour of Wallington & Cragside. Day 5 Departure After breakfast, we make our way home.
Today we are met by our guide who will treat us to a half day step-on guided tour of Newcastle . We experience how the city has dramatically changed from “carrying coal” to becoming a cultural hub within North East England. Understand the history and heritage from its Roman origins, Anglo Saxon past through to the age of steam and coal to today and beyond. Highlights include Old Newcastle (castle and cathedral quarters), classic Grainger Town (Earl Grey – he of the tea!), Quayside and some hidden gems along the way. After our tour we have the rest of the day at leisure to explore this fine city. Day 3 Beamish Museum Today we visit the Living Museum of the North, the Beamish Museum . This famous open-air museum, set within 300 acres of beautiful County Durham countryside, tells the story of life in Northeast England through the ages. We experience town life as it would have been in WWII, visit a 1940’s farm, the Colliery and Pit Village in the early 1900s and take unlimited free rides on the Beamish tram, but most importantly, be sure to visit Davy’s Fried Fish. Dab & chips cooked the traditional way in coal-fired ranges using beef dripping and served up in specially printed newspaper - there may be a queue, but it will be worth the wait! Day 4 Three Families Tour Today we are met by our guide as we embark on a
