Coast, City & Castle Cracker Our excellent base for this tour is the Carrickdale Hotel & Spa in County Louth. From here, we enjoy time in both the Republic of Ireland and Northern Ireland for the ultimate island of Ireland adventure! We stay close to the coast with visits to the coastal resorts of Carlingford and Newcastle, as well as a scenic journey along the beautiful Mourne Coastal Route, and enjoy some time in the city with a choice of visiting either Belfast or Dublin for the day. We also see the impressive Slane Castle and experience life on a working Irish farm.

Day 4 Causey Farm & Slane Castle Today we experience life on a traditional working Irish farm at the family run Causey Farm . We get the chance to be Irish for the day by throwing ourselves into things like turf cutting and rustling up soda bread, and trying our hand at hurling, folk dancing and drumming. We then head to the spectacular Slane Castle , overlooking the River Boyne and home to the Conyngham family, for a guided tour and to learn all about the family, the history of this architectural wonder and the big-name concerts that have been held here over the years. Upon arrival, we have free time for lunch in the small seaside town of Newcastle, before enjoying a picturesque drive along the Mourne Coastal Route, taking in beautiful coastline and the majestic Mourne Mountains, the highest mountain range in Northern Ireland with 12 peaks.
