Said Winston Churchill: “The human race has reached the point o f no return.” This physical universe, with its material won ders and mysteries is a vast autograph album — its pages made of mountains, molecules, seas, for ests, and starry heavens. But the signature of Jesus Christ — the Designer behind all design, the Lawmaker behind all laws, the Creator be hind all creation — is written everywhere, some times so small you have to use a microscope to see it, sometimes so large and being so far away, being large, you have to take a journey of a bil lion miles on a telescopic lens to read it. ’Twas Jesus Who made the first flowers and filled them with fragrance and fringed them with indescribable beauties, Who poured out from the crystal chalice o f eternity all rivers of earth, Who made the tabernacle for the sun, Who made the garden of stars in which the moon blossoms like a huge jonquil, Who sent out the first ray of light like some flaming archangel with garments afire, Who made centrifugal and centripetal forces to function, Who — even today — takes up the island of the seas (Isa. 40:15) — and to Whom the nations are as a drop of a bucket (Isa. 40:15). In this Creative Christ, men become new crea tures, for 'tis written: “ If any man be in Christ, he is a new creature” (II Cor. 5:17). Consider this creative Christ as the Jesus who had glory with God before the world was (John 17:5), came down from His glory — down from the heights of DEITY to the depths of humanity. An uncreated, divine person, who had eternal pre-existence, took the form of a cre ated Being, and became what He was not in Eter nity — FLESH. Christ, who in Eternity rested on the bosom of the Father without a mother, in Time rested on the bosom of a mother without an earthly father. WHEN was Jesus “made of a woman,” “made flesh” ? When a chaste Jewish virgin who had never known a man, made a painful journey into the mysterious land of motherhood. When she came back, she was holding in her arms the only Baby who never had an earthly father. He was God’s will, God’s purpose, God’s thought swathed in mortality. He was the Light—God seen; the Word — God heard; the Life — God felt. With Haldeman, we say: “He who denies the virgin birth — denies Bible Christianity, smites the mother of our Lord with shame, snatches the CRADLED CHRIST

crown of deity from Jesus’ brow, strips Christ of His sinless humanity, makes the cross a blood stained failure, and bids us face eternity with no light in the darkness.” We must add that this Holy Spirit-begotten, virgin-born Christ, whom neither calendar, nor clocks, nor contemporary historians took note of, bent the date lines of all nations around His man ger cradle. Today, the whole world over, the dates on newspapers printed, checks drawn, deeds re corded, letters written, monies coined, corner stones placed, monuments erected, documents filed, so testify. The Greeks tried to date time from their Olym piad. The Romans tried to date time from the founding of Rome. The French Revolutionists tried to date time from the year one of their Revolution, Justinian tried to date time from his tax levies. LaPlace tried to date time from the conjunction of certain planets. BUT ALL FAILED! But what the Jews could not do, what the Greeks could not do, what the Romans could not do, what the French could not do, in the matter of dating time, Jesus did. Cradled in a manger in a stable, this timeless Christ, Christianized the calendar of the world. He was the CURATIVE CHRIST Jesus met blind men — and gave them sight. Jesus met dumb men — and made them talk. Je sus met crippled men — and made them walk. Jesus met deaf men — and made them hear. Jesus met crazy men — and made them sane. Jesus met outcast women — and put them back in paths of purity. Jesus met lepers — and cleansed them. Jesus met critics — and confounded them. Jesus never faced a storm He did not calm. Jesus never met a human need He did not supply. Jesus never went into a cemetery He did not raise the dead. Jesus never met a funeral procession which He did not break up. In our wild and wicked world, Jesus has power to heal all diseases and wounds—IF only we would let Him have His way. Consider, too, the COMMUNICATIVE CHRIST The teaching Christ, we mean. The Christ who illustrated in His daily life every doctrine of His heavenly mind and “ spake as never man spake” (John 7:46). He stands out and above all teachers as a great palm tree in a desert of mediocrity, shines as a thousand-bulb chandelier above a clus-
