The House of Representatives in the One Hundred First General Assembly of the State of Tennessee recognized Jackson for his leadership abilities and civic endeavors benefiting the public good. A faithful and dependable member of the Memphis (TN) Alumni Chapter for over six decades, Jackson’s reverence of tradition, protocol, and etiquette continues to impact the chapter. Brother Donald V. Jackson leaves to cherish his memory two nieces, Elizabeth Caswell and Marilyn Williams; four great-nieces, Iris Higginbotham, Gale Harwell, Shelli Hayes, and Amber Okazaki; one great-great niece, Rory Hayes; two great-great nephews, Brandon Best and Alan Harwell; and a host of other family members and friends. He was honored to be a member of both historically black fraternities, as well as on the boards of many associations with both local and national imprints, including the San Diego NAACP, National Urban League, San Diego Holiday Bowl, and the Board of Directors Neighborhood House Association San Diego where he lived until he moved to Hemet California. He received many accolades and awards, and he treasured them all. No matter the source, great or small, he sincerely appreciated every one of them. During his last minutes of life, Silhouette LeDean stated, "he slipped away from us as we tried to hold on, telling him he was coming home tomorrow." But he said, "No. I am going HOME today." His distinctive smile, deep voice, and laughter will be missed by all who knew him. May he rest in peace at the "Golden Shore."

Hodge utilized his college education professionally as he was an information technology professional in Tulsa and Atlanta, GA, for over 40 years before retiring in 2011. Brother Hodge is survived by his wife of 22 years, Diane Hodge, two children Mauli & Kasinda, three step-children Jamerez Andrews and Donna & Del Fountaine, one niece Necia Gamby; twelve grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, and a host of relatives, close friends, and professional colleagues.

He enjoyed a distinguished and stellar career as an English teacher with the Memphis City Schools District, retiring from Corry Middle School. He served faithfully for many years at Centenary Methodist Church. A military veteran, serving in the United States Army Quartermaster Corps, and a past Grand Secretary of the Most Worshipful Prince Hall Grand Lodge of TN, Free and Accepted Masons, Jackson was a pillar in the Greater Memphis community and his service and commitment to Kappa Alpha Psi, especially Memphis (TN) Alumni Chapter, was indelible. Washington High School in Tulsa, OK Class of 1967, Hodge continued his educational career at historic Lincoln University in Jefferson City, MO, graduating with B.S in math and computer science in 1971 as a second Lieutenant in the United States Army.
