QUADRUPLING THE SIZE OF ITS PREVIOUS SITE, THE NEW LURGAN BRANCH INTRODUCES A DEDICATED PLUMBING COUNTER AND TEAM FOR THE FIRST TIME… MacBlair rolls out improved offer at new Lurgan branch
MacBlair Lurgan now offers a dedicated plumbing counter featuring an extensive stock range for the first time following its move to larger premises. Opening in a more convenient and expansive location at Quarry Business Park on October 28, the move is aimed at strengthening its network and further solidifying its position as a leading supplier of building and plumbing materials in Northern Ireland. With 19 branches across the region, MacBlair boasts a comprehensive fleet of delivery vehicles and a dedicated team of more than 400 fully trained and knowledgeable staff. The new Lurgan branch has relocated from Seagoe, Craigavon, where it had operated since 2000. It features a much larger shopfloor, warehouse and yard, and has created job opportunities in the local area, with the team expanding from seven to 11 members of staff including Andrew Meakin, who is heading up the plumbing counter. Keith Hamilton, Branch Manager of MacBlair Lurgan, said, “It’s been a great move for us, and we’re seeing lots of activity with much higher footfall and stronger sales. Our previous site was more isolated, whereas the new one is in a popular business park. It’s a much nicer environment and more inviting.” As well as attracting more members of the public, the new site is welcoming a boost in trade business with an extended stock range showcased on the shopfloor. “We now have a plumbing department, which we didn’t have in the old branch,” said Keith. “Before, we had a very basic range, but we now stock a wide range of plumbing and heating solutions including boilers - and that side of business is going well. “As part of a major group, we have very strong buying power and can compete with any of the merchants. If we haven’t got a product here, we can certainly pick it up from one of our main branches in Belfast or elsewhere. “We also have a great team in place in

Lurgan, offering plenty of experience and expertise in the trade, and with a few younger people on board as well to freshen things up.” Officiating at an opening event for the new branch alongside Keith was MacBlair CEO Karol McGuckin, with the first 50 customers welcomed with complimentary gift bags filled with products and promotional items. To mark the opening, MacBlair also hosted a Big Lurgan Trade Week over November 4 to 7, featuring different suppliers each day including Macnaughton Blair’s own MacBlair Plumbing brand. Open to both the trade and public, the
