Next, pass through a portal and step into the world of design reflecting Western artistic traditions. You’ll discover a landscape filled with swan and goose tureens as well as vessels in the shapes of rabbits, turtles, and nesting birds. Other animal motifs will grace dishes portraying scenes from Aesop’s Fables, and designs from antiquity will include Adam and Eve in the Garden of Eden. The oceans as inspiration will also have a place here, highlighted by towering ceramic centerpieces comprised of seashells and corals (fig. 2) .
