Build a foundation of business knowledge and improve key skills so that you can start your undergraduate degree with confidence. You will join a supportive environment while you transition from school to university level ways of learning. You will develop problem-solving and critical thinking skills alongside enhancing your maths and statistical knowledge. You will also learn about the foundational principles of business, helping you understand topics such as marketing, finance, accounting and entrepreneurship. Working in groups is a large part of the course, enabling you to develop leadership and team-working skills, as well as give you the opportunity to prepare and deliver group presentations. You will be allocated a Personal Tutor who will support you academically throughout the Foundation Year and who will be able to provide you with information about the wide range of support services available via WBS and the University of Warwick.

How to apply

Foundation Year fees We are offering a scholarship

Who should apply? If you’re currently studying, or have recently studied, for your A-levels or vocational qualifications but are unlikely to achieve the direct entry requirements for the courses because of challenging personal, educational or family circumstances, our Foundation Year could be your entry route to degree-level study. As well as meeting our academic requirements, a number of contextual factors will also be taken into account when assessing applications. You must be a home fee status student and must meet at least one of the following Widening Participation Criteria: ■ Be a care experienced applicant who has been a ‘looked after child’ for at least 3 months ■ Be an ‘estranged student’ under the age of 25 who is studying without the support and approval of both of their parents due to a breakdown in their relationship - this might be their birth, step or adoptive parents, and sometimes wider family members ■ Have been granted refugee status or are under ‘humanitarian protection’ in the UK. You must have studied A Levels or equivalent qualifications in a UK state school or college ■ Live in an area which has a high level of deprivation (Index of Multiple Deprivation, 0-20%) ■ Completed your studies at a school/schools where performance of students was below the national average and eligibility for Free School Meals was higher than average ■ Were eligible for Free School Meals at some point during the past six years as verified by UCAS.

Other entry requirements include: GCSEs: B/6 in GCSE English Language, B/6 in GCSE Mathematics and C/4 in five other GCSE subjects. Applicants with grade C/4 in GCSE English Language and grade B/6 in GCSE English Literature will also be considered. Plus the following: A-levels: Complete and pass three full A Levels excluding General Studies and Critical Thinking OR International Baccalaureate: Completion of three subjects at Higher Level and three subjects at Standard Level, achieving a minimum of 24 points OR BTEC: Completion of BTEC Level 3 Extended Diploma, to at least pass standard OR Other qualifications e.g. Complete and pass the Scottish Advanced Highers. *Please note that applicants to BSc Accounting & Finance with Foundation Year should have studied a higher-level quantitative subject such as Maths, Further Maths, Physics, Calculus and Statistics. to all students who are selected to study on the course, covering the full tuition fees of the Foundation Year (£5,760 for 2025/26 entry). Fees for subsequent years will be charged at the standard home tuition fee rate. Students can also apply for Warwick bursaries to support their living costs if required.
