Anne Lizotte is feeling tired. But it’s a good tired because she knows that all the hard work she and her aides have put in during the past few months will all pay off when people walk through the doors and into the showroom atmosphere of this year’s Clarence-Rockland Expo. Lizotte noted that this year’s commer- cial tradeshow has a definite overall theme. Anyone looking for advice on their dream home project, whether it’s financing a refit, finding thematerials and tools needed for a home reno job, or getting the right qualified tradesman or tradeswoman to take care of that job, should be able to find what they need at the Expo. «This one is going to be verymuch a home show,» Lizotte said. «This one is really going to be about things for the home.» This year marks the fifth anniversary for the C-R Expo, and the fifth year also that Lizotte has been shepherding the event. She’s been involved since the beginning and seen the show grow beyond its original confines within the old Jean-Marc Lalonde Arena building. There is so much going on during the event over the April 18 weekend and it has gotten so big this year that it needs the Cla- rence-Rockland Arena on the campus of the Canadian International Hockey Academy to house everything and, even then, the largest rink pad there isn’t enough to contain all of the displays. While the largest of the booths will be spread out across themain rink, upstairs in themezzanine andmeeting roomarea there will also be displays fromBarnyard Studios and Friends, along with various other offe- rings for the casual Expo browser. Some of the biggest showcase displays confirmed for this year’s expo include setups by Rona Rockland, Bytown Lumber, and, for the first time ever, Potvin Construction, each of which will occupy several booth spaces in the arena showroom. There will also be featured demonstra- tions by Rockland Mobility for seniors and others who need mobility-assist features for their home. GTG Environment will offer a presentation in support of its mosquito control program. Outside in the parking lot both Transit Caravan and Performance Mazda will show off a wide assortment of answers to transportation needs. Expo visitors can also enjoy a nice Sunday brunch, get their ticket on the draw for a $2,500 shopping spree courtesy of the Expo and co-sponsor the Clarence-Rockland Chamber of Commerce. They can also put in an order for bulbs for their spring garden plans and help out the École Ste-Félicité. More details are at www.expoclarence- rockland.com.
