In 2025, the eco-friendly movement is only getting bigger. Expect to see more bio-based plastics and compostable options making head- lines. Governments are cracking down harder on packaging waste, which means brands have to reevaluate how they are addressing this concern. Refillable and reusable packaging are going to become in- creasingly common, according to the report. Tech-savvy packaging made significant strides in the past year. QR codes and NFC tags allowed consumers trace where their products came from or interact with brands and advancements in augmented reality demonstrated where packaging was headed. By 2025, smart packaging will become the norm, with internet of things-enabled packages telling consumers if their food is fresh or al- low them to track shipments in real time. Energy-efficient electronic labels and AI will also continue to make packaging more personalized than ever.
