LEVELS There are five levels from Pre-Intermediate to Proficiency on the English for the Future programme and four levels from Intermediate to Proficiency on the Pathways to Higher Education programme in Brighton.

It is important to understand that the food served at Bede’s will not be the same as you have at home. Most of your meals will be served in Eat Central although some might be served in Dine Central. As there are students from lots of different countries, the menu at Bede’s is a mix of English and International food. There are always two hot choices available for lunch and dinner and there is always a salad bar. In addition, there is always a vegetarian option at meal times. Having different food is part of being in another country and being at Bede’s is a great opportunity to try some new, typically English dishes. The campus also offers a great variety of other places to eat and a diverse range of food. Most of the food offered is Fairtrade. There is also a supermarket on site if you want to supplement the meals with snacks of your own choice. Sample Daily Menu

After arrival, you will sit a placement test with three sections: speaking, grammar and writing. The tests take about 1½ hours to complete in total and they are marked by Bede’s teachers. The results of the three components form the basis

for creating the different classes. HOW CLASSES ARE CREATED

COMMON EUROPEAN

LEVEL

FRAMEWORK A2

Pre-Intermediate

We take many factors into account when creating classes: your age, your first language and your English level. If you think your class is too easy or too difficult then speak to your teacher who will speak to the Academic Manager to see how best we can help. Moving to another class is sometimes possible but we may have a very good reason for placing you where you are. The teacher might be able to change something in the class which will improve your experience but we can't help unless you tell us the problem. MATERIALS We will give you a Bede's notebook and folder to organise the materials you use in class. Please look after them. If you keep your notes organised, it will help you to remember what you have learnt and revise for the weekly progress test.
