Rausch Herefords - 68th Annual Bull & Female Sale [2/16/26]

TWO-YEAR-OLD BULLS

Developing our Bulls All our bulls are born and developed here at the ranch . We study these cattle from the day they are born to the day we deliver them. We work hard to offer bulls that are rugged and practical so they can go to work anywhere and hold up well. These bulls run in large contemporary groups and have all been performance tested since birth to ensure accurate EPDs - Birth, weaning, yearling weight, scrotal measurement and carcass ultrasound. Sale day weights and scrotal measurements will be provided on the sale day supplement sheets. The yearling bulls will have carcass scan data available prior to sale day on the supplement sheet. We offer multiple age groups with the intent to create flexibility and versatility for our customers. Additionally, it enables us to spread out our calving and breeding windows. Here is how we grow and develop each age group: SPRING TWO-YEAR-OLD BULLS The spring two-year-old bulls are primarily born in the late calving group in late March through May on big pasture. They are weaned in early October and slowly grown on a high roughage diet through the first winter and graze on pasture the following summer to help them develop as rugged, athletic breeding bulls. In October, we get them back to the bull runs and feed them on a 44 NEG silage/hay based ration with a good vitamin/mineral package to get them ready for heavy service in the spring. They will pass a breeding soundness exam prior to sale day. FALL 18M BULLS The fall bulls are calved on late summer grass and graze cornstalks through the winter with their dams. They receive supplemental creep feed to help them endure the harsh Dakota winters. After weaning in early March, they are slowly developed on summer grass to help promote longevity. In October, we get them back to the bull runs and feed them on a 44 NEG silage/hay based ration with a good vitamin/mineral package to get them ready for heavy service in the spring. They will pass a breeding soundness exam prior to sale day. YEARLING BULLS Our yearling bulls represent some of our latest and freshest genetics - many coming from first calf heifers and our early bred AI cows. We do not creep feed them in order to showcase the true merit of the dam’s milk and the bull’s natural growth curve. After weaning in early October, they are grown out well on a 48 NEG hay/silage/earlage based ration, but not pushed for maximum gain. By late spring, they will be semen tested and ready to go to work.

RUGGED. HIGH PERFORMING. MATERNAL.
