THE K I N G ’ S BUS I NESS Many who desire to enter colleges will apprecite the opportunity of becoming thoroughly grounded in the teachings of God’s Word before entering those institutions. A local Bible conference is being planned by the Bible Institute to take place in September, meeting in the Insti tute auditorium. A. C. Gaebelein is scheduled as one of the speakers. Dr. Lincoln A. Ferris, pastor of the First Methodist church of San Diego,' gave the address to the Bible Institute graduates June 27th. The Baccalaure ate sermon was delivered by Dr. Torrey Sunday June 23rd. Evangelist William Nicholson speaks at the Institute auditorium each Sun day morning and evening throughout July and August. The Victorious Life Conference for the Pacific Coast was held at Whittier, Calif., June 1 to 9. Mr. Warren Pike of the Institute staff was in charge of the conference. The meetings were attended by about three thousand persons and very definite things were accomplished in the lives of many. Bible Institute students received great blessing, so far as they were able to attend. Miss Mary Stimson, an Institute grad uate who hag been matron of the Door of Hope Mission in San Diego has been compelled to give up her work for a time on account of ill health. God has blessed her very richly and the changed lives of many women whom she has pointed to the Lord Jesus testifies to her work. Miss Elizabeth Foth, ’ 16, is now in charge of the City Mission of the Breth ren, Altoona, Pa. Miss Alice M. Flack, ’ 15, recently graduated as a trained nurse from the Los Angeles county hospital.

655 Miss Ethel Mae Reynolds was united in marriage to Rev. A1 W. Grieve on the evening of June 21st, in the Lyceum room of the Bible Institute. Institute Expenses It is costing money to run the Bible Institute of Los Angeles, and more money than it has ever cost before. Its directors would not do anything for the raising of money which would seem at this time to be bidding against the gov ernment for support. There never was a time when there was so great a need of institutions to bear witness to the faith of the Word of God and to train those to go out into the great harvest fields who know how to handle the Word of Life. To curtail the work now in the time of the world’s most"urgent need of the Gospel would he uncharitable as it would also he unfaith ful. The money must he brought in and without the least interference with, or neglect of, what the nation may do or need. Our directors, workers and stu dents have been earnestly praying that the needs may be supplied and'there is no reason to feel that God will not lay the matter upon the hearts of His pe.o- ple. The world is awaking to see the fruits of the German philosophies which have permeated many of the educational and theological schools of our own land. These institutions are backed with mil lions and even now are putting forth their utmost effort to spread their vagaries. The Bible Institute of Los Angeles has stood throughout the years for the unadulterated Word of God. Every dollar given to it will be prayer fully used, and will go far to take the Gospel to those in darkness and to straighten out those who are entangled in the webs of higher criticism and the heresies that have resulted from it.
